....For the Gingersnaps have celebrated their first birthday and the new challenge theme today is to use Ginger, Copper and Rust colours on your art...*something to do with the Gingersnap name there I reckon LOL* Remember the piece from yesterday? You know, the one with the copper metal that went squarey?
Well, here is the piece in its finished state...the colour has changed radically...I sloshed a load of Ginger, Terracotta and Rust Alcohol Inks over it...and then gave it a good rub with a soft cloth to make it shiny.
The rose and the heart...they are from the tutorial I did last week...again, colours changed with Alcohol Inks...and I added a couple of flowers and leaves behind the rose to build it up a bit...adding on the sentiment but keeping it copper coloured is the only thing I am not 100% sure about...there seems to be too much contrast between that and the rest of the piece...but...I left it as it was...mainly cos I had stuck it down and it wouldn't budge LOL All of the stamps used on this piece are by the very clever and incredibly talented Mrs Wendy Vecchi...if you click on her name you can be whizzed off to her blog...
The strip of "rivets" made as a separater was done using silver metal and a fat ball and cup tool, then a little ball and cup tool to make the rivetty bits in the centre...then coloured with black paint...then coloured with Alcohol ink again. The finishing touch was a rusty heart, which I punched with Colin... *Colin is my Crop-A-Dile...I longed for one of these for years...and finally got one and loved it so much, I bought the company....noooooo...that was that daft Remington advert...nooooo, I loved it so much, I named it....you thought I was slightly mad...wrong...totally barking deary!!!* Where was I??? Oh, yes, punching a rusty heart, adding in an Idea-ology cog and Spinnery thing, holding with a brad in the middle...cool huh?
And...cos it is Wednesday...it is WOYWW! Yah! Last week I 'fessed up about my dark side...well...erm...I was withholding evidence too *blushes* Cos I actually have a few dark sides and here and now I am confessing my further sins... *wondering if I will be forgiven quite so easily this time???*
I have mitigating circumstances though...I have the smallest room in the whole world...so have over spilled into my stepsons room...just for storage like...and I am relatively neat and tidy with it...even buying some storage drawer unit thingy's to use....I have even written on the photo about what is in what drawer....sort of an explanation...
And...here is my lovely neat *not* desk today....on it is a project I started last night...but...alas...I was one stooooopid Hels and slipped getting out of the bath...and have really gone and done it this time... the pain was sooooo bad it took my breath away, so I left the piece unfinished....and that is tragic cos it is using new Maya Road and new Wendy Vecchi stash!! *I had it planned last night...listen to Radio 2 til 7.30pm, time for a soak and then back in the room of stash for more crafting and listening to Radcliffe & Maconie at 8pm...missed my fave show of the day :O(( Is that enough for the sympathy vote I wonder???*
And this, friends...hey, we are all friends here right? This, is the other end of the dark secret desk I showed you last week....ermmmmmm...I know, it is in dire need of sorting out...tis a monstrosity...but I just haven't got around to sorting out the stamps and drawers and stuff...there are a few bits of WIP there too...so, am I forgived this time??? Pllllllease, *playing on the sympathy card* I have a lot of pain .. so it would be cruel not to forgive me today wouldn't it??? ROFL Don't forget to pop over to Julia's place...she has the messiest desk in the world ever which makes mine look very neat *only joking Julia* The two pieces of metal art are one which I made on a TSS workshop(LHS) last year and one I made myself later on (top of the pile)...still yet to be framed...oh and there is a little sneaky piccie of Grim in there too...see, I used to have that part of the room really neat and tidy...so I could look at that pic whenever I wanted to...now I have to crane my neck to see it LOL
Thanks for looking....have a goodly day... I have just read back this post...soz it is soooo long...but I hope that you are still with me LOL ;o))

Oh my... where do I start? I love your gingersnap, heart with clock bits etc to bits!! Its gorgeous Hels!! OK... cos you are in pain we will forgive you the dark stepson misdeeds... especially as it makes us all feel better to know you have stuff stacked up just like the rest of us! ;)
Loved looking at the stash storage and your gingersnap creation is divine! :) Hope the pain is easing.
xoxo
your work area looks fabulous, as for the mess to the side? just got too much amazing crafting stuff for those wonderful draws of yours - need to get some more (do i mean stash or draws?).
Awsome artwork, nice neat desk and lots of stash like all crazy cardmakers! Ha, ha....I really love the artwork, wish I could do stuff like that but I am only a baby at making cards...
Cardarian
utterly amazing creation..really breathtaking..i can imagine how much more beautiful this must be in the real..have a happy St Patricks day Hels..hugs jan
Lovely creating Hels; love that rose. As for your dark sides - well, I knew even if no-one else did..I've yet to meet an 'alterer' that hasn't got a 'waiting tobe sorted' spot, if not the desk itself! Gawd, hope you've taken painkillers and are resting a bit. And by the way, I had to go and fetch my bloody glasses to finish reading your post. Gah!!
Your gingersnap creation is amazing. I love it. Your desk is very tidy and even your storage overspill is very organised. It's all very impressive.
A x
I'll forgive you all the stash overspill and untidy bits Hels. Only because mine was just the same until I was allowed to take the conservatory as MINE! (Still have a bit of overspill in the little bedroom though).
Your Gingersnap artwork is fabulous. I actually like the contrast on the sentiment as otherwise I think it might have got lost in the other gorgeous embellishments. I love how you pull all these items together.
Hope the back's easing up a bit.
Hugs
Lesley Xx

Girl, you're amazing! I am head-over-heels in love with this piece, and would like you to come stay with me for a couple of weeks and teach me some of your magical art techniques. Oh, come on, do it! I'll bake chocolate cake for you...

Oooh fabby rose it looks soooo detailed. I think my sons room is about the only room left to be invaded by my crafty stash! Hope you're not too sore today. Have a lovely Wednesday.xx
It's always such fun to come over to your place - so much to see, I like to zoom in for a proper nosey!! Every week I resolve to get my metal stuff out again and have a play with it, never never do ... maybe next week??
wow Hels, your artwork is something else!!! You're definately as talented as those who are rich from it (if you get me)!!!
Your desk looks like a hive of activity for more lovely pieces - I had to laugh at your draw that your not really sure what it contains!!! I think we all have one of those!!! I bet we all have a dark side too - but you're the brave one to show it!!
Paula x x x
First of all I absolutely LOVE this Hels, and don't think there's too much contrast between the sentiment AT ALL. Secondly, compared to mine your desk is as neat as a pin! Thirdly, I feel your pain! OWWWW! AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST I forgive all of your transgressions. At least you have your stash IN bins and not crammed in the closet like mine so that it tumbles out whenever I open the door. xxD
OMG this is .... OMG I´ve missed the right words. Outstanding creation in metal. Unbelievable.
Hels - you are hilarious! If we lived on the same side of the pond I think we would be besties. Love the metal rose with all the rust colors of AI... Beautiful! And I would show you what's on my work table but it's such a mess! Happy Creating today!
Wow ...OMG ... and WOW again ...cant take my eyes of that amazing metal work. Your work on your desk looks interesting too. Now I need to follow all your links . Can I just say one more WOW
Your rose is beautiful.

So soory to hear you are in pain, Hun.. do hope it wasn't in a hurry to tidy up your other desk, as that looks fine to me :)
Gorgeous project :)
well I did not think you were capable of producing any better artwork ( as your arts always amazing ) but this has to be the bestest piece of metal work I have seen in ages, just super duper Hels and you most certainly are up there and above of those getting rich on the craft xx
I am loving these metal hangers you are doing...yet another owrk of art...fabulous, Love it!! Hugs Juls
Love the last photo!! Soo much stuff! I also have a lot of 'stuff with no home'.
I'm reading through the WOYWW posts with my 11 year old niece and when your blog opened, she said OMG that's gorgeous to your Gingersnap piece. There was a lot off oooing and aaahhing too. She is the 'magpie' niece so think yourself lucky you don't live near her xxx
I hung on in there and read it right through. Love your latest metal work for Gingersnaps - its truly stunning.
Love you craft room -my what a lot of stamps in your 'corner.
It looks a lovely room to work in.
Hope your pain eases up.
Sorry to hear you've hurt yourself. A bit jealous that your desk is a lot tidier than mine, but glad to see that you have tonnes piled up in every nook and cranny!
OMG that gingersnap is the most gorgeous thing. The heart with the spinner on is inspired love it, may have to knick the idea.
:-)
Absolutely love the gingersnap creation, those are my fave colours! Erm.... that last pic.... is there a man trapped there behind the pile of stuff?!! lol
oh WOW!!!!! that piece is just fabulous. It looked great in the first picture, but I just love what you did to it after.
Great gingery, coppery rusty piece but... Colin? What were were you thinking?! My (lovely) Postie is called Colin and he's the furthest thing from a CAD I can think of, definitely not a chomp through metal kind of man! Hope the slip from the bath pain is easing and you're feeling better now.
Tis blooming marvelous Hels, love the colours, and who's been hiding crafty stash, come on, have you totally come clean! lol
x
I stuck with you Hels, to the end Hun x My Colin wanted to say how flattered he is that you called your Cropodile after him by the way. I had to say I was flabbergasted to receive your wonderful Metal Rose hanging piece in the post, thank you soooo much, it has pride of place in the shop, on the Wendy Vecchi stand of course. You are one very talented lady and your work blows me away every time x
So in awe of your artwork. absolutely gorgeous. Hope your feeling better soon :)

Get well soon,
Linda
well your desk is soooo tidy, not Im not being,I actually mean it lol You really should mine!
Wonderful metal work Hels.
Gorgeous piece, Hels! Loving the richness of the metal look.
I would just like to put in a complaint (by my bank manager I should add)... since you mentioned on my blog that you had the tattered florals die cut by Mr T!m I have been adding this to a shopping cart each lunchtime and then deciding I can't afford it this month. Ok it might be the 10 other things I add simultaneously, but the point is it's your fault!
Yours battling a craft addiction
wow Hels - they are really something special i love all the different brass and rust colours ! fabulous work Hels
hugs
maddy x
I thought my stash was alot but you girl.. well no comment! hehehe
Love your ginger piece.. my poor metal is very neglected, as are my alcohol inks..
I can't stop looking at this piece. I loved it when it was red because it was my favourite shade, but now it's all coppery and metal looking, I think this is fab too. I am going to try and make one of my chunky book pages using your technique but will have to try with tin foil because I went for some metal sheet today and they wanted me to take out a mortgage to buy it!!!!!! xxx
this is another beautiful piece from you. I just love them all.
coooo - that's a stunning piece Hels! fab! ouch for the pain - hope it eases soon
A really rockin' piece of art, sorry about your back, hope you are better by now, and Grim...he looks so sweet....how did he ever hook up with you?!! but now you know I'm only kiddin' right, don't hit me like that again, I thought we were all friends here.
