Ickle Pinky Board Book

Hi Peeps

Remember the "delightful" fairy stamp I won in the Pass the Parcel? Well, at the same time, as well as winning chocolate, I also won a tiny board book. It was so cute but I just had to rip off all the little pictures on the pages and make it grungey :O)) However, I did decide to go for pinks and purples and make it a little more girly too.



I started off by tearing all the coloured pages off the book so I was left with just plain buff coloured chipboard.

I then used Pink Sherbert Acrylic Dabber to cover the whole book. Because I am an impatient crafter, I used a heatgun to speed up the drying of the pages....and then I used some sequin waste and Twilight Purple Dabber and made the little circle designs randomly throughout the book.



This all looked a little bit "dark" so I used Snowcap Dabber and the sequin waste, again randomly thru the book.



I started the stamping by using lots of lovely sentiments from Penny Black, one by Dawn Houser and one by Stamper Anon (I think. I stamped all the sentiments in Black Versafine and then clear embossed them to set them - again for speed otherwise it takes aaages to dry the ink on the paints!




Now the fun part! On the opposite pages to the sentiments, I stamped various flower, dragonfly, heart and paisley images. The stamps used are by Crafty Individuals, PaperArtsy, Tim Holtz Collection and Penny Black.



All of the fancy images were stamped in Imperial Purple Versafine and again clear embossed for speed!

For the front cover of the book, I used some Grungeboard, wings, heart and crown, which I had cut out from some striped uncut Grungeboard I have. I coloured them using Acrylic Dabbers again and then used sandpaper to distress them a bit.




To finish the little book, I edged the pages with gold Krylon and then stamped my little Birthday greeting on the back. I am not saying who this is for though...I have a few birthday's coming up this month...so I am going to be keeping Mum :O))

Got Even More Board!

Hello and Happy New Year to you all!



I have taken some time out over this busy time of year and managed to get a few crafty projects completed.

Here is another altered Board Book. It is larger than the others that I have done and because the printed pages lifted off really well, I have used the lovely chipboard surface to add paints, inks and papers.







For this book I wanted an old "grungey" look, so I used papers and elements from my K & Co Maison ScrapPad. I love the vintagey old look of these papers and the colours are perfect to match into the paints that I have used.




Firstly, after I had removed the printed pages from the board book, I used a paintbrush to apply some Adirondack Dabbers and Crackle Paints to each page. This was a slow process as I had to do two pages at a time so they dried properly.




Once I had the paints dried, I went over the crackled parts with a gold "colourwash" that I made using Gold Dabber mixed with water. I used a paintbrush for this and also my finger, to smudge it in properly.

When the pages were ready to be decorated, I chose some of the patterned papers from the Maison pad and gathered the elements and embellishments I wanted to use. One of the pages was actually a magazine page from years ago, that I scrunched up and rubbed over with Old Paper Distress ink and then a bit of Walnut Stain ink too. Once I had the desired "aged" look, I stuck this to a page and then added some embellishments.




As I was sticking the papers to the pages, I was edging them all with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. This tied the colour theme in nicely.

I then chose the stamps I wanted to use and used either a Sepia Versafine pad or my Walnut Stain pad to stamp the images. The choice of pad depended on the density of the colour of the papers.

I used a selection of stamps by Catslife Press, PaperArtsy and Tim Holtz Collection from Stampers Anonymous.





Once the stamping was completed, I added the elements using either 3D foam or Glossy Accents to stick them to the pages.





I used a paper distresser to rough up the edges of the book and then bent the spine back on itself so the paint flaked a bit and made it look even older.



I am really chuffed with the final look of this book, I only wish I had taken a picture of the book before...it was about a Piggy Wiggy opening his presents! It is far from that now!

I Got A Little Board...Again!!!

I have piccies of my second board book and have got a few spare minutes to upload them!



I used the same kind of technique as with the other one but this time I used Cool Peri and Silver Adirondack Dabbers. I used a brush to paint the pages, again, alternately swapping the lilac with the silver.




I used a range of stamps by Penny Black, Tim Holtz, PSX, Whispers and Rubber Stampede. I wanted to make this one a bit "girly" so went with butterflies, dragonflies and flowers for my theme.





I embellished this book with flowers and butterflies that I had layered onto the pages using silicone glue to add some depth to the project.



I think I like this one better than the other...it made a nice change to make something girly instead of "grungey" :O))

I Got A Little Board!!

Blimey, where has this last week gone? I haven't been able to get into the Craftroom much this week, so made the most of a late night last night and got cracking on some Board Books that my dear MIL had managed to get for me from a Car Boot Sale.


I have previously altered one book using papers and embellishments so wanted to do something a little different with this one.




My friend Linda made me a book earlier this year and used acrylic paint to cover the pages, so I, being a total copycat :O)), borrowed the idea and altered my own.



I started by peeling all the pictures off...if you are careful, you can peel them off all together, but cos I am not careful, I managed to stab myself with a craft knife and took about 30 mins to get all the bits peeled off!! It was worth it though, as the board is rough without the pictures and gives a better key for the paint to be applied to.



I am really pleased with the results of this one. I used my favourite colour (of the moment) Adirondack Dabbers in Gold and Juniper. I used a small brush to paint the Dabber on to the page. I alternated the colours to add a little definition. Once the pages were dry, I then used the "Dabber" and streaked the opposite colour over each page to tie in the theme. I then used Tim Holtz stamps mounted and unmounted, using Sepia Versafine ink and clear embossing powder to set the images as the paint is not porous and the ink just sits on top of it.



I punched a hole in the front cover and attached an eyelet using my Crop-A-Dile and then threaded gold and brown ribbon thru it.



I am hoping to have the next one ready for Blogging tomorrow...Xmas food prep permitting!!
