...How could I resist those ickle Maya Road shapes that are just out...the little pack has chipboard bobbins, needles, sewing machines, coat hangers and best of all....mini scissors! Now, a question for you all....have you got or ever used Mr T'Holtz's Tonic Studio's Scissors? And...if you have got them or used them...do you like them? Are they your bestest ever scissors? The reason I ask is because I saw a question on a forum the other day...and it said "what is the ONE thing you cannot craft without?" My answer, immediately, is my Tonic Scissors. First of all, they are uber sharp...I have had one pair for three years nearly and never sharpened them...the other pair (which are for best ROFL) are exactly the same....but, why have two pairs??? Cos...one is for cutting out chipboard and mountboard, mounting rubber stamps and cutting into metal...the other pair is for fine work...but to be honest, all the bashing the first pair have had has made no difference to their performance at all! I would love your feedback...go on, feel free to discuss the merits of these fab scissors...
Now, why am I waffling on about Mr T'Holtz's scissors??? Cos...in the little pack of Maya Road shapes is a pair of chipboard scissors *bear with, I know I already said that* ... and... it I thought it fitting that I made the chippy scissors into mini replica Tonic Scissors ...call it hero worship, adoration or just plain daftness... but I think they look pretty coolio :O)) I added in a little mini brad from the Idea-ology range and coloured them with Pumice Stone for the snippery bits (erm...for the grown up readers...the blades LOL) and for the Kush Grip handles I coloured them Barn Door.
The base of the piece is a Maya Road page from a coaster book....decorated with Studio 490 stamps...of course...Maya Road and Distress Inks = Wendy Vecchi stylee...I added some Maya Road braid...this is ssoooooooo gorgeous...you can see, I used a fair bit of it...and added a couple of buttons too. The ickle needle is threaded with a piece of old string...coloured Pumice Stone...and the Bobbin has some black cotton threaded around it. The little shirt on the hanger was stamped onto Grungepaper...and coloured with Stormy Sky and then covered with Rock Candy Stickles. Now it is time to admit I made a boo boo....I plonked my dirty great thumb print onto the ART word...so I tried to rub it off...naffed it up ...so covered it with Rock Candy Crackle...think it blended in pretty well :O))
Thanks for looking....oh, I almost forgot to say...the little scissors here...they have Glossy Accents on the snippery bits...cos that is what mine look like...all gunky...and...I reckon I need Mr T'Holtz to pop over to my house and do a mini signature on them LOL

brilliant interpretation of the tonic scissors. Wendy introduced me to them and they've been by my side ever since. Can't imagine creating without them. They're the only ones that cut ribbon without fraying and cut through that gunky sticky rubbery stuff. Love this creation!
I love this, Hels! The scissors - great idea! And, yes, Mr. Tim should indeed autograph them for you! :-) Want to send this to me, to have him sign in April?
I just got this Maya Rd chipboard set, too - can't wait to play!
Gosh Hels you have so fantastic ideas and your work is really inspiring. Wonderful idea and brilliant design hun.
Great work! I love my TH tonic scissors, too. They're the best for cutting anything.
You may have cracked it with this one! (or crackled it, ha ha - I can do jokes too!)
The scissors are fantastic, I agree, I use them ALL the time. I think the grip is the best bit, they are soooo comfy to use.
Your little tribute to them looks wonderful. I MAYA just have to get some of these myself.....see, done it again!
I also love my tonics! And I also have two pair!
I do use them for just about everything, though I do have a pair of very small scissors for uber fine cutting...like when I'm cutting embellishments for an inchie! Not that the tonics wouldn't cut fine, its just that I can see what I'm doing better with the little snips.
Love how you made the chipboard scissors into tonics.
I know, I know.....My name is Eileen and I'm a Tim-oholic!

Geez, think I will have to get me a pair they sound great.
Love Tim's scissors for everything but I do have a pair for some of the tiny stuff just cuz it's easier for me to see around them. Great take on Wendy's stamps with Maya accents; love all the goodies you've been creating! Keep up the gorgeous work!
Fab scissors, and love the other bits too :)
Another fab piece Hels, BTW what does Cor mean? sorry I'm a little dense!
This is so cute! I want to get that Maya Rd set too... not allowed to spend until Ally Pally though!
Well I don't have those scissors, but I do have a pair for best myself. I shall be popping back to see what the general impression is about whether I should invest.
Love the tag too. xx
Oh Hels, you make the coolest stuff! Love this! Glad to know about the scissors. I keep going back and forth on them but now I know they're a MUST HAVE! xxD
How cute are those scissors!... fantastic stuff!
Love it, Hels!! Such a fun piece, and your scissor treatment is cutting edge, LOL!! I love my Tonics - I had a pair of Kai (? can't remember how it's spelled ?) scissors to cut rubber stamps apart, and someone urged me to try Tim's. What a difference!! They don't get nearly as gunky - must be the Teflon coating. Couldn't live without 'em!
You caannnn't have Mr TH over to your house for a scissor signing session - Linda would never forgive you, Lol!!!!
Love what you've done with those gorgeous little scissors Hels, in fact, I love the whole quirky piece.
I also love my Tonics! They are the best at cutting anything I've yet put between their snippery bits and since I bought them a year ago I've retrimmed every single unmounted stamp I possess (and that's a lot of stamps). I think I may have to treat myself to a 2nd pair because if ever I lose mine I shan't know what to do.
Hugs
Lesley Xx
Your wee Maya TH Tonic scissors are too cute! I think Tim should sign them too. Wall hanging is lovely even with thumb art too, where??? you covered that well.
I don't have the TH Tonic scissors, and have never tried these.
*Funnily enough my most favourite scissors for cutting....ever, (including fine cutting)
...don't laugh!... is a pair I purchased from "Pets at Home" they are pet grooming scissors by "Mikki" I've had these for about 7 years they are still sharp. I have never sharpened them yet so far and they're used lots too! They can get into very small details easily.
They don't hold onto the sticky stuff much but when they do occasionally, say, if I'm cutting through lots of gunky glue stuff, I just wipe them with blending solution on a rag or stazon cleaner, and they're like brand new again.
I also use the large and medium sized Westcott titanium scissors they've never needed sharpening either and they have a 25 year guarantee (I have about 22 years left of that, lol) They're good for larger areas and most cutting but the small size in the set I rarely use, as I have my "Mikki's".
Sorry to go on so long.
You did ask! lol

I don't have the scissors yet. I hear wonderful things about them. I love your scissors because they look so real.
tim scissors are a really cool touch to this piece...love it! don't own any posh scissors though, I lose things too frequently, but I have heard people rave about them (but also wish they had longer blades...don't think that would bother me)
Fab little piece and yep, the Tonic scissors are fab (although I confess to having a pair of very fine bladed non stick that I use for detailed paper cutting - less than two quid from Tesco!)
Great art, i'm loving it loads.
I also have 2 pairs for timmy sissors, oh no make that 3 hehehe. One for every day use, one lives in my travel junk bag for when i go crafting with friends, and i have a set still in the packaging..just in case.. a tad over the top i know but i got them from the US when the prices were much better so all 3 cost me just over what you pay for 1 set now ;)
If you cant already tell I LOVE THEM xx
I really expected to see MrTHoltz comment on here for sure. Someone needs to let that man know you are waiting for a signature! LOL!
These are wonderful!
What a tribute to the Tonic Scissors! And they look just like them, too! lol You're too funny. Great piece, love the background colors. That shirt and skirt are too cute!
I love this. LOVE IT! You nailed the Tonic!
Sadly, I have finally managed to damage my TH Scissors (if anyone can screw 'em up, I can!). So, I'm off to the LSS this weekend for a shiny new pair.
Hullo, Hels! Saw your plea on ATT, so here I am. Welcome to our Group... glad you found us at long last!
How does your "snippery bits" get blobbed up and need Glossy Accents on your cute Maya Road chipboard charm to represent such an occurance? One of the reasons I love my Tim Tonics is that they are NON-STICK! I've cut stickers, glue dots, rubber stamps and never had to get out my Goo-Gone!
I like to spread the love... have given them to my husband, brother-in-law and sister-in-law as gifts. Everyone needs a pair (or two)!
OH! ~P.S.~I love your blog and you are a fantastic Crafter and Artist! "See" ya "round ALL Things Tim!
Hey you forgot to put Tim's signature on your scissors LOL!
I love my tonics - I have had them for about 2 yrs and they still cut like new. I have a pair of bumble bees that I use for intricate cutting - they are smaller and easier to get into tight places - these I've had for 4 years and they still cut like new. then I have old junky scissors that I use to cut thread, lace ect...
Have you noticed on the tonics that there is a smooth blade and serigated blade? You can just flip the scissors to get the effect that you want!
One more thing - the tonic can cut through a Diet Coke can like nobodies business!!!
Love this piece Hels! Those Scissors are fab! :o) xx
Wow, what a stunning piece of work. You have such creative ideas, I just adore your work. Hugs xx
Forgot to say, I totally agree with your comments re scissors, I have two pairs and whoa betide anyone who picks them up and thinks they can borrow them. They should buy their own pairs. I must be as barmy as you are, lol....
girl...I vote for you to get your own darn TV show...u just crack me up! and yer work aint to shabby either!
oh..u can send to me cuz I get to see THE MAN in April too! will make sure he signs em'
You are HILARIOUS!!!
LOVE the mini scissors...total CUTENESS!!
wendy
