Let It Snow

Hi Peeps

I have joined a Fat Book list called "Stamped Snowmen" on CraftSwap Forum....basically, the pages are all to be 4" x 4" in dimensions and to be as fat as possible. The title of this book speaks for itself! I have a lovely "Scribble Snowman" stamp that I have had for years and always use for Christmas Cards...so I decided that he was ideal for these pages. There are 20 of us on the list, so today, I sat down and made all 20 pages :o))

I used the same design for all the pages and kept it simple. I firstly took 20 squares of mountboard that I had pre-cut and using Adirondack "Stonewashed" and "Denim" inkpads, I lightly brushed them directly over the page. I then used a spritzer that I had added Perfect Pearl powders to and wet the inks. Using my heat gun, I dried off the ink and then stamped the Snowman in Denim colour. I used a waterbrush and smudged colour in around his body and also coloured his hat and scarf, then lightly smudged a darker blue around the base of the image to give a shadowy look.

Using a clear embossing pad, I dragged ink around the edges of the page. Then I sprinkled "Star Dust" embossing powder onto this and heated it to set it. This gave a crispy frosty look to the edges. I have a pack of Tapestry stamps, so I used a snowflake peg stamp and randomly made the image in Ice Blue ink behind the snowman.

I then finished the edges of the page with a silver Krylon pen, added a little title ( I used a self inking stamp that I just made the title bar on) and then the snowflake brad and the eyelet and fibres were the finishing touches.

I like the overall effect of the page. I actually used elements of this design last year for a Winter Fat Book and more recently on a prototype project for CraftSwap's Christmas Challenge.

Thanks for looking.

Hels x
