Hi there,
As a member of Craft Swap Forum, I am on a few Fat Book Lists. What is a Fat Book? Well, it is a little book made up of 20 or so pages. The pages are 4" x 4" and have a specific style. The whole point of the pages is to make them nice and "fat" and to decorate them with a host of different mediums.
The pages here are for the Tim Holtz List. There are about 14 of us on this list and each of us will make 14 pages, then send them out to each other, so at the end of the list each member will have 14 different pages. Then, using book rings we attach them all together and here is a book!
These pages are all made using mountboard as a base.
Page 1
I made this page by colouring the whole surface with Distress Inks in Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint. I then spritzed the whole surface with Tattered Angels. I let the spritz sink into the page, then dried it off using my heat gun. I then dragged a Adirondack Dabber in Lettuce over the page to achieve the streaks. I used the tree stamp as a background and then on a separate piece of paper, I stamped the expression. I wet the edges of the paper and curled them forwards to make a shabby look. The little square is a piece of Stampbord, which I coloured and then stamped the face on it. I heat embossed the surface by dabbing a clear pad over the stampbord and then used clear embossing powder to seal it. Finally, I edged the whole page with a gold Krylon and stapled two pieces of ribbon to it.
For this prage I used: Distress Inks, Papers & Stamps by Tim Holtz, Gold Krylon, Stampbord and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.
Page 2
For this page, I prepared the surface by painting on Walnut Stain Crackle Paint on one corner. Once this was dry I used Cut & Dry foam and applied Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain Distress inks to the page. I spritzed the page with the Tattered Angels and dried it off with my heat gun. I stamped the images of the little girl using a Sepia Versafine inkpad. I took a piece of Tim Holtz collection paper and stamped the compass image then wet the edges of the paper and curled it forwards. I added a little golden gem to the middle of the compass as a little sparkle. I used a square of Stampbord coloured with the Distress Inks and stamped the face of the little girl. As before, I used a clear embossing ink and powder to set this image. Finally, I edged the page with Gold Krylon and stapled the ribbon and the twill to the side of the page. I used the twill as it is a "ruler" which tied in well with the main image.
For this page I used: Tim Holtz Collection stamps and papers, Distress Inks, Invoke Arts Stamp, Glimmer Mists, Stampbord, Gold Krylon.
Page 3
I painted Crackle Paint in Dusty Concord onto one half of the mountboard and set it aside to dry. Whilst this was drying, I prepared the paper I was going to use. I tore a piece to fit on the left of the page and tore a thinner bit for the right of the page. Once the Crackle Paint was dry - which is about 15 mins depending on the thickness of the painted patch - I stuck the papers onto the card so there was a gap on the right of the page to show the crackley bit. I used a piece of Cut & Dry to smudge a little Dusty Concord Distress Ink onto the paper to tone it in more. Then, I used a piece of mountboard with the edge of it rubbed over black ink to make the scratchy lines. I did this several times, randomly, over the paper to give a different distressed look. I also spritzed the paper with the Glimmer Mist for that extra bit of shine. I then coloured a two smaller bits of mountboard, ready to be stamped with the sentiment and the head. The tiny tag is also made from mountboard and I stuck this to the head image. Once I had stuck the extra mountboard pieces to the design, I stapled two pieces of ribbon to the edge and as before, edged the whole page in Gold Krylon.
For this page I used: Tim Holtz Collection papers and Stamps, Invoke Arts Stamps, Glimmer Mists, Crackle Paints, Distress Inks, Gold Krylon, Stampbord.
Page 4
For this page, I painted Walnut Stain Crackle Paint on the left hand side. Once this was dry, I used Cut & Dry foam and applied Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain Distress Inks to the rest of the page. I spritzed this with Tattered Angels and left it to settle so I had a more distressed look. I stamped the Nibs stamp across the page using Walnut Stain ink and then I used some of my Tim Holtz collection paper with the nibs on it for the right hand side of the page. I wet the edges of the paper and curled them up for that shabby look and edged them with Walnut Stain to tie it in more. I used a square of Stampbord, coloured with Walnut Stain and then stamped over with the Nibs. I scratched the nibs to make them stand out more and then I clear embossed this image and sprinkled some Enchanted Gold powder onto the surface whilst it was still hot. I used a piece of the paper but stamped on the reverse which is the plain coloured side. I love this sentiment stamp...makes me really want to do that!! LOL I edged the page with Gold Krylon and then stapled on the ribbons for a final touch.
For this page I used: Tim Holtz Collection Stamps and Papers, Crackle Paints, Distress Inks, Stampbord, Gold Krylon.
I have a few more pages to Blog tomorrow...this is enough for one night LOL!!
I have already sent out the pages to those peeps on the list....I loved making them and it was so lovely to be able to use all these fab products to achieve some really nice results...I just need more of the Crackle Paints as they are brilliant...and I need more of the Tattered Angels..they are soooo lovely to use. Guess I had better write to Father Christmas!!
Thanks for taking time out to have a look...Hope that I have explained myself and not rambled on too much!
Cheers

It is "that" time of year again!!
Hello...again!!
Yes, it is "that" time of year again when I have to start thinking about all things Christmassy. I have not really begun to think about my Christmas crafting and save for a few cards I have made, I am hideously behind on all my ATC and Fat Page lists....probably because all I seem to be doing at the moment is altering stuff!!
Here are a few piccies of the Fat Pages I have made so far and also a piccie of the ATC design I have used for my list on CraftSwap Forum.
Fat Pages

I have used the same technique for these pages. All are on mountboard, which is fab to work on as it is so thick, when it gets wet, it does not bend like card does. I used Adirondack inkpads in Cranberry, Butterscotch and Rust colours. Firstly, I took a wet babywipe and smudged the whole of the page with Butterscotch ink. Whilst this was still wet, I used another babywipe to smudge Rust ink around the edges and a little towards the centre of the page and finally, another babywipe to smudge the Cranberry ink just on the very edges of the page. I blended all the colours with a clean babywipe and then spritzed the whole lot with water and immediately dried with my heat gun. This base was then perfect for stamping onto. I used stamps from the Tim Holtz unmounted collections and also .... my limited edition Tim stamp from 2006. I was so excited to be able to buy this on eBay a couple of weeks ago...I have not been able to find it anywhere in the UK so I had to look across the pond to find it. Lucky me! ;O)) Once I had stamped the images, either in black or Cranberry, I then used UTEE and layered on the embossing until it was more or less smooth. I sprinkled Enchanted Gold powders round the edges of the pages whilst the embossing powders were still hot to achieve a gilded look. An eyelet, a bit of co-ordinating fibre and edging in Copper Krylon finished the pages off.
I still have about 20 more to make !! So watch this space!!
A Happy Christmouse ATC
Aw, these little House Mouse stamps are so sweet and endearing aren't they? I love this little fella in his Santa hat and just had to give him a home here in my craft room :O))
For the ATCs, of which there are twenty on the list, I used thick white card as the base and then stuck some ripped Xmassy paper by K & Co to the top and bottom. I stamped the little mouse onto a separate piece of card that I had pre-cut to 1 1/2" x 2" . To get the different colours right for the image, I used MarvyLePlume pens in Carmine Red and Brown. I then used Liquid Applique to edge his hat and add the pom-pom and heated it with my heatgun...this puffs the applique up to give a raised feel to it. I then matted the card onto some red mirri card and added a message mat at the bottom of the ATC. A piece of golden ribbon, stapled on and edging in Copper Krylon pen finished the ATC off nicely.
As I had so many to make, I made all the designs the same...
Thanks for looking

Let It Snow
Hi Peeps
I have joined a Fat Book list called "Stamped Snowmen" on CraftSwap Forum....basically, the pages are all to be 4" x 4" in dimensions and to be as fat as possible. The title of this book speaks for itself! I have a lovely "Scribble Snowman" stamp that I have had for years and always use for Christmas Cards...so I decided that he was ideal for these pages. There are 20 of us on the list, so today, I sat down and made all 20 pages :o))
I used the same design for all the pages and kept it simple. I firstly took 20 squares of mountboard that I had pre-cut and using Adirondack "Stonewashed" and "Denim" inkpads, I lightly brushed them directly over the page. I then used a spritzer that I had added Perfect Pearl powders to and wet the inks. Using my heat gun, I dried off the ink and then stamped the Snowman in Denim colour. I used a waterbrush and smudged colour in around his body and also coloured his hat and scarf, then lightly smudged a darker blue around the base of the image to give a shadowy look.
Using a clear embossing pad, I dragged ink around the edges of the page. Then I sprinkled "Star Dust" embossing powder onto this and heated it to set it. This gave a crispy frosty look to the edges. I have a pack of Tapestry stamps, so I used a snowflake peg stamp and randomly made the image in Ice Blue ink behind the snowman.
I then finished the edges of the page with a silver Krylon pen, added a little title ( I used a self inking stamp that I just made the title bar on) and then the snowflake brad and the eyelet and fibres were the finishing touches.
I like the overall effect of the page. I actually used elements of this design last year for a Winter Fat Book and more recently on a prototype project for CraftSwap's Christmas Challenge.
Thanks for looking.
