Sneaky Peekingtons....

...cor blimey, I am numbskull indeedily!  I set myself all ready to make a post on here last night... and forgot!  I needs to get some anti-forgetfullness pills!  Anyways, better late than never, here are some sneaky peeks of the new stuff on tomorrows Melt Art Marvels shows on Create & Craft.  And... a bit of happy news... I have been given an extra hour too!! So I will be on at 12pm, 4pm and 7pm.  All the deets on how to get the channel etc are in the left sidey bar.  Oh and if you are not in the UK, you can view online HERE and clicking "watch us live"   So... here's a little snip of what is coming up....

And... did someone mention new colours?  Oh yesh indeedily, I was like a kid (*a big one lol*) in a candy shop when I was picking out some new colours for the 100ml pots that they are now available in.... and I have chosen these.... just wait til you see them melted... ohlalalaaaaa!

Because of my forgetfullness and tardyness in blogging, I am in a bit of a hurry as I want to get a few more samples finished and then I needs to get my demo's prepped up and ready... and then my nails need major surgery... I may be some time!  Thanks for looking, have a fabby day!  TTFN

Close Ups...

...yipyah and thrice, it is Wednesday which means it is today that I have the Melt Pot shows on Ideal and Create & Craft.  I am on Ideal at 2pm (channel deets in sideybar) and also on Create & Craft at 7pm (again, deets in sideybar and did you know, you can also find C&C on Virgin Channel 748 now too!)   Here are a few piccies of what I have been making with the gorgeous products I have on the shows.

I am in lurves with the new Spellbinders/Susan Lenart Kazmer Media Mixage dies and bezels... they are really sturdy, chunky almost... and perfect for making pendants, bag charms, bracelets and much much more. The box above is using clear UTEE and the largest heart.  I stamped a collage onto cream card, used the corresponding die to cut it out to the right shape and then popped a few bits of Idea-ology into it and then poured clear UTEE over the top to fill it up.  It was that easy!

I shall have to get a wiggle on, I needs to try and sort out my hair, it seems that the Sleep Gremlin visited me in the middle of the night with his sink plunger (face puffy) and mega strength hair gel (hair... beyond words lol)  Thanks for looking... have a fab day!  TTFN

Schneeeky Peekingtons....

...I have got a few little piccies to show you... with the brand new product I will be launching on the Melt Pot shows on Wednesday 17th on Create & Craft.  (deets on how to get the channel are in my sideybar)  I am waiting on times being confirmed but I do know one of the shows is at 7pm.  So, you want to know what I am raving about???  Well, I am going to be bringing you the brand new Media Mixage range by the brilliant Susan Lenart Kazmer and Spellbinders...  How chuffty tuffty am I!!!!  I have long been a fan of Susan's eclectic style, her embellishment range blew me away when I went to Michael's for the first time - to the tune of $100!  (not to mention every visit after that first one too lol)  Here is a sneaky pic....

Aha, I am mean, only showing you a tiddly little bit... so... here are some more... this one is my favest one I have poured so far... the photo's don't do it justice at all.

Here's one of the gorgeous heart shapes that has some Clear UTEE poured in and... some of my fave Suze Weinberg Bedazzles... I love those little beads of gorgeousness!

 
Remember that last demo I did on the Four Day Deals shows?  I was using Blue Raspberry, Pearl and Black UTEE's in the pot and I marbled them... well... I left it in the pot so I could pack up straight after the shows, got home, melted it up again and then poured it into the little Media Mixage bezels... these are just a few pics, I will have lots more samples for you to see over the coming days and of course, some *hot* demo's ready for Wednesday... here are the larger of the Media Mixage, I am a sucker for a heart but I love, love, love the Fleur-De-Lys... how pretty is that!!  Please do excuse the rubbish photography, using a camera is always a battle for me, the photo I see in my head never looks like the one I take lol If you squint a bit, you will see them in focus more lol

As well as the gorgeous Bezels, I will also have the dies to match them too... the possibilities for playing with these are endless... One Thousand Six Hundred....

...cor! blimey! and! thrice! (sang that word)  This is my 1600th post!!!  That is one heck of a lot of waffling... and if I had a care to, I could always go back through all my posts and see how many words I have typed... yeah, right!  Can't see that happening too soon lol   Anyways, today sees the start of my 4 Day Deal on Create & Craft, starting bright and early at 8am.  All the deets on how to see the shows are in the sidebar... and remember, if you aren't in the UK or can't get the channel, you can always watch online on the website.  

Today I have another canvas sample I have made for the shows.  This one has the scraped paint technique (am hoping to demo this) and a tissue (good old Kleenex) stamped background, applied with beeswax and then a diddy canvas on top to add a bit of extra depth and somewhere for my sentiment to go... which also ties in with this weeks Sunday Stamper challenge too... deets HERE.  

The pretty flowers are made using the Spellbinders Spiral Blossom die, three of them in total and all dipped into the molten beeswax and then dusted with Forever Blue Perfect Pearl powders to add a smidge of blingingtons.   The leaves are the Spellbinders Nested Leaves (loving these!) and they have also been dipped into the wax.  Once I had done the background, I added some more splodges of molten wax to the corners of the canvas, once it had set, it had some Biscotti (my FAVE) Perfect Pearls pounced over the top and then a quick buff to make it all pretty and shiny.

Much mirth and merriment (what? again?) in the kitchen again last night!  So.  Grim cooked the most delish roast dinner for us - we had bought an "extra" turkey thingywotsit from M&S at Xmas and frozen it... so we had that, oh my word, it was deeevine... along with swede and carrot, brocolli, cauliflower cheese (nom! sorry Ellen) and Grim's special roastie spuds.   For afters we had also bought an "extra" Kirsch soaked Cherry filled Xmas Pud from Sainbug's at Xmas... so we had that.  But!  No rum sauce!  So I decided I would make some custard.  No matter what Grim says, Xmas pud and cream is just plain wrong... and it needed a sauce so custard it was.  Now, I loves custard, one of my fave things... but I am ... ahem... not that good at making it and usually resort to a tin.  Which we didn't have.  So I decided to use the Bird's powder.  After carefully checking to see if it was still in date... and reading the instructions and getting everything out I needed, I attemped to open the tub.  And the lid was stuck fast.  So, I pulled a little harder.  And the lid flew off, covering my face, hair, chest and most surfaces in the kitchen with said powder.  And did you know, if you try to pat a big dump of custard powder off your chest and breathe in at the same time, you can inhale said custard powder and then practically choke to death?  No? Well, you can lol   Anyways, undeterred, I carried on and made my custard... and oh my word! I can indeedily make custard... I didn't burn the pan (most unusual that) and it was lovely and thick and creamy and... ooooooooh perfect!    With that lovely image in your mind, I shall bid you a goodly day.  Thanks for looking... Sunday Stamper - Week 251 - Mother Nature's Son

Goooodly Morning Stampers and a very Happy Easter Sunday to you all.   Big, big thanks for the whopping amount of entries for last weeks' challenge - I think we set a record with 40 entries!  Before I announce the winner,  I will let you know the new theme... and do the usual housekeeping:  So this week the theme is... So, before I waffle on about this weeks challenge, I have the winner of the last weeks candy to announce.  Like I said, there were a massive 40 entries to the challenge - thank you all, I truly appreciate each and every entry.  I fed the number into Mr Random.org and the winner he picked is #14 which tallies with Sue's entry.  Congrats to Sue, please can you send me your addy and I will pop the candy into the post for you :O)

The theme this week is a poignant one for me.  I decided to dedicate the theme this week to my lovely Grandma who passed away, this day, 25 years ago.  I chose nature for the theme because she taught me more about nature than anyone else.  We used to spend hours walking along the river Aire and fishing for sticklebacks and tadpoles in the Leeds - Liverpool Canal and the time she devoted to teaching me names of plants and different uses for them will always stay with me. 

I am sure I am the person I am today because of the time I spent with her when I was growing up.  I still miss her incredibly, I wish that she had been around to see me mature into a woman, I wish she had been able to meet Grim, I know she would have loved him but more than anything, I miss her wisdom and her unfailing faith in me and unconditional love for me.  We used to get up to all sorts of larks too, like the time we went for a walk and inadvertantly wandered into a field of bulls... or the time we were watching Jasper Carrott on the tellybox and she was laughing so hard, she fell off her chair (I still reckon that Sherry might have played a part in that too....)  Anyway, this one is for you Grandma.....

This canvas is one of the samples for my upcoming shows this week (all the deets are in the sidebar)  I think all of the products on the show are online now so they won't come as a massive surprise.  I used Eco Paints, Beeswax (LOVE the new Creative Expressions beeswax, tis lush) and some stamping to make the background for the canvas... and then added some ickle canvases to add depth to the design. 
 

 
The leaves are Spellbinders and the roses are made from a stamp... well, not the actual stamp, you know what I mean lol   And the spiral flowers are also a Spellbinders flower.  I dipped the flowers and leaves into melted Beeswax - bit like a Faux Porcelain but with wax... and check out Mr Owlington ... he is made using Mold & Pour and a pendant I have... and then beeswax poured into the mould and a dash of Perfect Pearls to jazz him up a little.  Cute huh?

Right, I shall away... I am going to be having a busy day today... not only am I going to be doing my demo prep and last minute samples, I will also be eating lots of chocolate (I have two Easter eggs! Yay!) and it is the start of the new British Touring Car Championship season today at Brands Hatch so we will be watching the races... and cheering on Jason Plato as usual.  Grim is cooking our dinner and we have a Christmas Pud for afters that we have saved, tis one of those Kirsch Cherry filled ones from Sainsbug's... ohhhlllaaaaallllaaaaa... And The Winner Is... Take II

...teeheeee, I loves a giveaway, makes me very happy to read all your lovely comments too... so thank you for all 58 of them on the card giveaway post from Saturday.  Tis time to draw the winner, so what I did was asked Mr. Random.org to think of a number (remember Johnny Ball and "Think of a Number"? OR am I just showing my age? hahaha)  Anyways... he chose my lucky number 13 to be the winner, which tallies with the comment left by Cornish Emma.  Thanks again folks for all your comments and please can you email me your addy please Emma?    On with todays post.....

Even though the samples do get chance to be seen on yonder telly, I know it isn't a proper old look at them... so I have picked three of my fave cards from the sample collection (and there were over 30!) to show you today.  The stamp sets used on them are: Wildflower Art, Art For You and My Kind of Art which are all lush Studio 490 stamps.  The leaves are Spellinders Foliage 2 and the flower is Spiral Blossom 3.    This first card is my FAVE of all the cards I have made... ever!  I consider myself to be a bit pants when it comes to card designs... I see so many beautifully sculpted and dimensional cards on my travels and I wish I could come up with something special like that... I seem to be better doing dimension on canvases and Art Parts and the like... I need a cardmaking lesson methinks!   But... this one.. I like the balance of it... and I also love the kraft colour (cos it... erm.. is brown lol)  I like the pile of embellies in the corner... the spiral flower was made with black card, the leaves are cut from Bazzill and the little raven and air mail piece are the Embellish Your Art goodies I had on the shows: aren't they just SO cute together!  This is a card I dreamt too... the raven with the air mail thing, a flash of inspiration during a trip to the Land of Nod!

Next up is my second fave card from the batch: another simple design but this time adding a pop of colour to the base of the card.  Made by popping the new Chicken Wire That Special Touch stencil over the card and lightly blending Barn Door DI over in patches... and then just making a little mat for the sentiment and bunging a spiral flower with some leaves a couple of pins... simples!

And finally, a card with a bit more substance, ie: a ton of paper!  I loves Embellish Your Art for many reasons: one being that they are designed by the crafting goddess that is Wendy Vecchi... and another is the attention to detail, like the fact they are all flat backed, so no matter how much dimension you have on them, they stick perfectly to your artwork without need for clods of silicone glue.  This little Star Brand bottle is a case in point, a little cut out bit has been made in the neck of the bottle... so the flower slides in perfectly and yep, it is all flat backed!  Genius right!   A few layers of paper and a simple sentiment and voila, a pretty card all done and ready to go.  To jazz up an otherwise plain mat, I stamped the beautiful flourish from My Kind of Art onto the mat using Pale Ochre Archival Ink.. just adds some decoration without being over-powering.

Anyways, that's a few cards for you to see :O)   I had a question left by Carol Q the other day... she asked which set the sentiment on Saturday's card came from... that is the Wildflower Art set hun :O)    Right then, I shall away.  We have an exciting day ahead.  Grim is off work this week on annual leave so today we are away to spend the day with Richard & Mary and Jerry the Springer (I am sooo looking forward to seeing him (Jerry that is *snort*) cos I haven't seen him since Xmas!)   And... today is the day that Richard teaches me how to play... my Ukelele!  So if you see lots of riots and stuff on the news tomorrow you will know it is their neighbours out with burning pitchforks trying to get me to stop torturing my new instrument (not to mention the singing lol)   Thanks for looking... have a lovely day!  TTFN

It's.... Giveaway Time... Again!

This is one of my demo cards from Thursday 3pm show.... I do so love playing with Distress Stains and when I was making all my samples I was playing around with them to see if I could come up with a different way of using them.  I decided to see if I could pick them up on Cut & Dry foam and blend with them... but the first one I picked up was a tad smudgy for blending... but then I said to myself "I wonder if I could streak them..." and yesh, indeedilily, I could.  I loved the effect so combined this new to me technique with my "drippy stains" technique.  Drippy Stains is a cool way of covering a piece of card/paper with Stains but making them more watercoloured.  Simply spritz the cardstock with a good old layer of water before you apply the Stains... and apply them in a pouncy motion.  It's also a very good idea to "prime" your Stains before you apply the water as you need to work pretty quickly: do this by pressing the Stain down onto your craft sheet and gently squeeze the bottle... nice and juicy then :O)  Once you have the colours applied, lift the card upright and dry with a heat tool, allowing the stains to drip all over.   Applying the Stains with the Cut & Dry foam is easy too: squeeze some Stain onto your craft sheet, pick up the Stain with Cut & Dry foam and then lightly streak it across the cardstock.  I have found the best way to control the streaking is to drag the Cut & Dry towards you.  Heat up to dry between each layer of colour... so on this card I used Seedless Preserves ... dried that layer and then went in with the Forest Moss.   To finish the card I used the new That Special Touch Chicken Wire mask (ohhh, my new fave!) and blended Scattered Straw DI over patches of it.  Because we used the Scattered Straw Stain with water, the Ink will show up more.   Adding a few die cuts for embellishments and an Art Part for that extra dimension finished the card perfectly!

 And there you have it... simples!  I hope, if you did place and order, that you don't have to wait too long for your new goodies to arrive with you and you have a lovely time playing.  As ever, if you get your goodies home and can't remember how to use them or need any help, just pop me an email over and I will happily try to answer any questions you may have.   Right then, I shall away... It's Giveaway Time...

...Cor blinking blimey and thrice!  Before I waffle on I just want to say a mahoosive thank you for all the fabby emails you sent in yesterday - it was a shame we didn't get a chance to read many out.  I know a couple of them had questions attached to them, if you would like me to answer them, please just pop me an email directly and I will be able to answer you that way :O)   So, as the title suggests, it is Giveaway Time today!  I was hoping we would be able to do an extra giveaway on the 6pm show yesterday but we just ran out of time... so... a little giveaway here instead.   To be in with a chance of winning this here tag, please just leave me a comment on this post... and if you aren't a follower already, click to follow my blog (over in the left had sidey bar :O))  I will pick a winner, chosen at random, who will be announced on Tuesday 19th March 2013.

This was supposed to be a full old demo tag but because we ran out of time, you never got to see it finished.  The technique I used is one I haven't tried before... and I was in the Land of Nod the other night and dreamt this idea up.  When I woke up I decided to give it a try and see if it worked... and it did!  Hurrah!  If you didn't get chance to see the demo, here's what I did: Covering a tag with an old bookpage to get a nice base for the tag design.  I used Cosmic Shimmer glue to stick them together.  Next I used a palette knife and lightly dragged smidges of Sand Eco Paint over the text, obscuring some and leaving some still showing.  Drying in between each layer is right important... so use a heat tool to speed this up.   Next I used Scattered Straw Distress Stain, squidging some onto my craft sheet and then picking it up with my palette knife and spreading it over the tag... keep applying it until you have the coverage you want.  Dry with a heat tool and then repeat with Seedless Preserves DS... and then again with ah smidge of Black Soot DS.  Once dried, use the Black Soot to edge the whole tag.

The birdy was coloured by pouncing Black Soot, Forest Moss and Scattered Straw Stains onto him and then drying him.   There's a Spiral flower made from normal black cardstock... and then some Heartfelt Falling Leaves cut from green Bazzill cardstock.   Check out the ickle embellies... how cute!  They are all Embellish Your Art pieces that were on the shows yesterday.  And there you have it!  

Like I said, thank you... every single comment, Tweet, email, Facebook mention... they all make me smile very biggly and mean ever such a lot to me... it means that you are liking the shows and the demo's and the goodies, which means that I am doing things right ::O))    Right.. I shall away... Pretty Poinsettia...PLUS... A Heads-Up

...now, shall I offer you some sunglasses?  I think it would help because my halo is a-shining brightly today you know!  Why?  Oh, just a small matter of me actually getting ALL the Christmas cards made and written - albeit most of them made and some of them bought - well, I set a goal, I got to the goal and then I spent a couple of hours writing the cards... and licking those chuffing envelopes... why can't they make envelope glue taste of cherries or something huh?  What with my lacerated tongue too!  It is marginally better... not 100% healed and I tried a packet of Cheesy Chester Cheeto's yesterday and had to stop and give it up as a bad job!  That's baaaad isn't it!

Anyways... being as I am halo polishing, it is also my intention to get the majority of the Christmas shop done today.  Oh yesh indeedily, I am going to don armour and a happy face *that may not last very long tho lol* and get as much as I can... so that on Christmas Eve, all I need to do is get veggies and milk.  A cunning plan indeedily - I just hope that no one else has the same idea lol     On with todays offering.   A card I made for my lovely in-laws... I usually make a card for them at Christmas and because I can, I use pearls and pretty stuff because Mum-in-Law loves things like that.  The poinsettia is my Spellbinders die that I bought last year, used once, stored away somewhere safe and couldn't find last month... and yep, you guessed, as soon as I didn't need it, I found it... in the Alterations storage tower... yep, that would make sense... storing dies with dies right?    The papers are Basic Grey I think... the cover has gone from the front of the book ... that is also probably somewhere safe!

Right... here's some news!   Tomorrow, for one day only, I will be running a special giveaway.  I will explain more on tomorrows post, suffice to say, it is a cracking giveaway and the reason it is for one day only is because I want the winner to get it before Christmas... does that give you any clues?  Aha, all will be revealed then so please do hop back over tomorrow.   I shall away now... Spellbinders Blossom Three Rose - A Tutorial!

... as promised on Sunday, I am here today with a tutorial on how I made the Spellbinders Blossom Three into a 3d rose.  This is a truly simples technique, the only thing I will say is that a sharp pair of scissors, a pokey tool (or kebab stick) and some Cosmic Glue are essential (you can use other strong glue but I advocate Cosmic cos I lurves it soooo much!)   This post is veeery heavy with photo's... so without further ado, I shall begin:

Fully assembled Blossom Three rose!

STEP 1
Die cut FOUR flowers from paper/card. I have used doublesided paper because the finished bloom is 3d, you don't want any bare backsides showing ;o))  *oh how I have longed to say that for sooo long lol*  I used the middle sized die for my rose, I love this size, just the perfect size for a centrepiece on a card.

STEP 2
I sanded the edges of my flowers to make the a smidge shabbier.  Use sharp scissors to snip into the centre of the flower - cutting in-between two petal (as shown)

 
STEP 3

I drew a little diagram to explain this bit. Take the petal on the left and pull it over the petal on the right of the cut. This makes the first bit of the dimension, the petals will now total 7 instead of 8.

STEP 4
Top Tip! Cut the top off the petal on the right (#2 on diagram)  When you assemble the rose, you will be curling the petals backwards, if you left the top on the petal it would be double thickness and wouldn't curl evenly like the rest of them. (hope that makes sense!)  **sorry for the blurry pic!**

STEP 5
Pop some Cosmic Glue onto the little tab left at the bottom of petal #2 - this serves as a gluing tab.

STEP 6

Use a clip to hold the petals together whilst glue is drying. Set to one side.

STEP 7
Now we need to make the next layer have only 6 petals... so cut out one petal completely from the flower (bit like a piece of cake *yep, food again lol*)  At the same time, cut a circle out of the centre of the flower - as shown - and the top off the petal to the right - this will form the tab for gluing and the circle cut out of the centre makes assembly soooo much easier.  Glue onto the tab, bring the left over the top of the right as before and pop a clip on it. KEEP THE CUT OUT PETAL! Set aside.

STEP 8
Now you need to make this layer into 5 petals, so cut out 2 petals together - as shown - cut out the circle from the centre as before and the top off the right petal, glue the tab bit and clip the flower as before to keep it in place whilst the glue dries.  Set aside. KEEP THE CUT OUT PETALS.

STEP 9
Now we need to make the next layer, which has 4 petals, so cut out three petals together, cut a circle and the top off the right petal to form the gluing tab.  Glue it and clip it, set aside... KEEP THE CUT OUT PETALS!

STEP 10
Remember those petals you cut out?  This is the three together one... cut off the pointy bit... you don't need that and it will be easier without it to assemble...

STEP 11
Use your pokey tool/kebab stick to gently curl the petals inwards... add a line of glue (as shown) and bring the right hand side over the left onto the glue, clip and set aside to dry.

STEP 12
Now we are making the layer that has two petals... again, cut off the pointy bit... you don't need it... it is... ahem...pointless (groooans!)

STEP 13
Use your pokey tool/kebab stick and gently curl back the petals... this will make it easier when you assemble this layer because the paper will have been stretched.

STEP 14
Bob a line of glue onto the left side of the layer, bring the right over, pop a clip on it to secure it whilst it dries.

STEP 15
Use your pokey tool/kebab stick and curl the single petal around it... oh and cut off that pointy bit, you don't need it... it is...erm... yep, pointless lol  Using the pokey tool just makes it so much easier to get a nice round curl and won't crease the paper.

STEP 16
All of your layers should now be glued and clipped.

STEP 17
Use your finger to poke the pointy bit of the largest layer upwards to make a little peak. This will be the nest that all your other layers will build around.

STEP 18
Use your pokey tool to curl back the petals, this is when you will notice that removing the top  of the one underneath is a cool idea :O))

STEP 19
In the middle of the peaky bit, add a good dollop of Cosmic Glue and after curling the petals on the next layer, pop this into the glue.  If you find that the hole isn't big enough, use your scissors to snip into it and make it a bit larger.  Wiggle the layer about in the glue until it looks right.

don't look at the stumpy nail on the middle finger.. akkk

STEP 20
Continue to assemble the layers, adding the glue to the endy bits of each layer. Keep going until all the layers are .... layered up!  Remember, if your layer is a bit sticky uppy, use your scissors to snip up into that hole you cut... just a smidge removed sometimes makes all the difference.
  

And there you have it.  I hope that the photo's and words are all understandable.  It is so much easier to actually sit and show you in person but I think that is a bit impractical because I could only fit about three of you into the Room of Stash (that is assuming that more than three peeps want to know how to make the rose!)     Please, please, please... if you do make one of these, pop back to let me know so I can come and have a nosey at your handywork.  If you haven't got a blog, you can email me :O))

Right, I shall away... I have some rather special samples that I needs to be getting on with making.  I shouldn't really tell you yet, so you din't hear it here ok?  I have a veerrrrry special launch show next Tuesday evening.... oh yesh indeedily... if I give you a little clue.. his name begins with T and ends with M and has I in the middle ;o)) (shame he won't actually be there in person, you will have to put up with me waffling on I am afraid..... )  If I say I am excited that would be a mega understatement... I am OVER the TOP excited!!!!   Just wait til you see the goodies we have lined up for you!!!  Yeeehaw!!!  Right.... I am off, please do let me know if you like the tut!  Thanks for looking... TTFN!
