Curiously Layered....

...so, another Compendium of Curiosities Challenge has arrived... I love this challenge (you have probably guess that by now though lol) If you haven't chanced upon it yet, click HERE to be whizzed off to the every loverly Linda Ledbetter's blog where you will see copious amounts of gorgeous arty things plus all the deets on how to join in. Based upon the Compendium II book by the very inky Duke of Distress, Tim Holtz, HERE is a linky to his website so you can have a nosey and see all his inspirational designs. Anyways, on with this weeks challenge which turns to page 43 and the technique Faded Layers.

Now, as I have said on many occasions, I have an ongoing hate-affair with masks... not the kind that you put on your head so you look like Ronald Reagan... oh no, those sticky jobbies that you put on your artwork and ink or spray through. I most deffo need a mask lesson... no matter how hard I try, I either splodge it, nudge it or melt it (enough said about that one thank you very much, I am still flame cheeked over that episode) Anyways... not to be outdone by a smidge of plastic, I proceeded to copy the technique and I rather like the effect... tisn't as in-your-face as a normal masky technique... but I shalln't say anymore... you can go and have a play for yourself and see what you think. All the deets and ingredients for my tag are over on The Stamp Attic blog along with links I have (kindly... ahem) provided to whizz you over to the right pages to have a little spendy treat too... am good like that lol

Anyways... tis late, I need my bed, my Room of Stash is a pigsty once more and I have a date with a vaccuum and some *whispers* dusters *watch out Sid Spider* in the morning so I most deffo need some zeds to prepare for that ...ahem... marathon! I may be some time.... Thanks for looking... TTFN

Hels x

BTW... I only noticed last week that for the past 381 years I have been spelling the name of the book wrongly... it is The Compendium of Curiosities... and I have been bunging a U in there... as in CurioUsities....silly me!!

Those colors DO work together nicely don't they!! Love all the layers of colors and images! The on the edge Fence is perfect with the Brolly Man. Thanks for sharing!

Fantastic tag again there Hels.
The tiny masks are fiddly - I found gently dabbing was the way to deal with it, so not a technique to try when stressed!!
Hope you get through your spring clean quickly (whatever is left is simply nature's art!?) so you can get back to the more important things in life.
Hugs, Buttons x
(p.s. thanks for helping Denise find my blog:)

I had trouble with my masks this time but they do need a good clean so they cling... love your tag.

Great tag - good luck getting rid of that spider and I have no idea how I spell the book title now that I have thought about it! will test myself later. I met you at the trade show in Feb - was with 2 friends and we were talking about WOYWW and your pinched artwork - hope you are well!

Hi Hels brilliant tag, really nice technique. Loving the colours too. I would spell curiosities like you, think it's the difference in US spelling........like colour and color. I was late to bed too and have a few chores to catch up on. I have to say I would rather be crafting, with some loud music on. Crafty hugs.......Annie x

Look likes everyone had great fun at your workshop! Am hoping one of these days to get to one of your workshops at the Stamp Attic, back and joints permitting - lordy sound right like an oldie!!! Love your tag and I'm so very happy to hear that I'm not the only person who has problems with stencils/masks - they always seem to either move or stick to well to my paper lol! Love the colours you've used! Thank you so much for your very lovely comments on my blog hugs Karen x

You are not wrong with your spelling, it is just the way American people spell the word (although I guess we should spell it the way it is on the book!!). Have seen your tag over at Stamp Attic's blog, it is wonderful how the colours work so well together. Great tag (again). Anne x

Tee Hee! I never noticed you were spelling Curiosities wrongly.

Got to remember to set the Sky box too for Saturday as I'm off to the Happy Stampers show at Port Sunlight. What a weekend of treats ... show on Saturday and your recorded shows to catch up with on Sunday..... Bliss!

Hels, you're a magician! This is fab, absolutely perfect, and you did a great job on the faded layers. Masks make me want to pull my hair out, and yet I love them, in a self-abusive way. ;-)
