The Curious Case of The Helicopter In The Hands of an Idiot...

...sorry folks for being AWOL this week. I have very goodly excuses though.  Firstly, on Monday we said goodbye to a lovely train driver colleague.  It was a very sad day and he will be very sorely missed but his long battle with cancer is now over.  Secondly, I appear to have been smacked in the chops with a flare up of the CFS that I thought I had gotten over, being as I haven't had an "episode" for nearly a year... seems that I may have been overdoing it of late so I decided to take a few days "off" and try and rest up.  Well, that is an understatement, I have spent most of the week asleep!  I am starting to feel less foggy now though so today I ventured into the Room of Stash for the first time in a week!  I think that is the longest I have spent out of the Room... ever!   Anyways, today I have been prepping class kits for my forthcoming class at The Stamp Attic on Saturday... here's a little sneaky peek of what we will be making... and yes, that is a rose (well, there's always a rose somewhere isn't there lol)

I must tell you about what happened on Tuesday evening!  So, it was a lovely day here, in between snoozles, we decided that a BBQ might be in order... so we got some goodies to cook and afterwards, it was a lovely still evening.  I had this bright idea that being as it was so still, we could have a go at flying the remote control helicopters that we got for Christmas and had only flown inside (you should have seen AlfieCat's face when he saw those lol)   Armed with the "red one" which is mine, I tried and better tried to get it to fly.  Basically, it was having none of it.  The "blue one", which is Grim's, was flying all over and spinning around and doing loop the loops (ok, I exaggerated but....)  So, Grim says, "let me have a go with that one..." and we swapped remote controllers.   It would seem to be an operator error rather than a technical fault cos the "red one" went right up into the sky and whizzed about.... PAH!  Shows I am not that good with teckernikal things right?  To prove a point, I decided to not let Grim get the better of me and I attemped to show off my piloting skills with the "blue one".   Ahem.... what happened next was pant wettingly hilarious... well, it was for me, not so much for poor old Grim.  I managed to get the "blue one" up and flying when all of a sudden it drifted higher, then higher, then away from the garden.  Grim was issuing instructions such as "turn it around" and "let it drop a bit"   Well, to be honest,  as I am a bit scared of the remote control I thrust it into Grim's hands and said "you do it"   Next thing, the "blue one" is right over next doors' house, gaining altitude (I kid you not, about 60ft in the air) and moving further and further away.  Then, it dropped like a stone...  by this point I was clutching my sides laughing.  The cursing coming from Grim just made it funnier too... so I wasn't helping matters.  Anyways... off Grim goes to the neighbours house to try and get the "blue one" back.  I heard him saying "Hels was flying a helicopter and she lost control and it crashed in your garden"  Cheek of it!!! He was flying it.. right?   Anyways.. .about 10 minutes later Grim appears back in the garden with said "blue one" in his hands... it was all intact with only a smudge of grass stain on the blades.  Turns out it had gone into the next road down from us... thankfully landing in the only garden that had longer grass.  And the only way Grim knew it was there was because he had taken the remote with him and was flicking the thinywotsit to see if he could hear the motor whirring... clever that huh?  Well, I shall repeat what he said "You have had your pilot's licence revoked"  And then... "you were lucky they weren't mustering F14's to come and shoot it down"  Talk about an over-reaction.... *snort*   So, from now on, any flying of said "red one" or "blue one" will be in a park, with no trees... and no hills, and no peoples or dogs...   I shall away now... thanks for looking... TTFN

Hels, you have my full sympathy - men just don't understand do they? Controls are programmed to work differently for men and women - it's not your fault - it's the remote! Hope your red one gets to fly again soon! Jean

ROFL down here in Kent!! Absolutely hilarious. You certainly need to study helicopter driving a bit more!
Sorry about the CFS - I have fibromyalgia (among other things) and can truly empathise. Hope you manage to balance things so you don't get another attack anytime soon.
Hugs Janet (and Bea)

Great story about the helicopter! Well we all have to keep some of the child in us to be creative...
The rose looks like a great new cultivated one, that I would love for my garden. Think the colours are beautiful; they all are real rose-colours. Hope you keep your energy! Hugs, Gerrina

Gorgeous rose and luving the colour of it - I can never work these remote 'boys toys' either, me thinks they have an inbuilt receptor as to whether it is a male or female who is using the control (that's my logic anyway) xx GailT xx
