Goooodly Morning Stampers and a very happy Sunday to you all! Many thanks for the gorgeous embellished entries for last weeks challenge... wow, there were some new peeps joining in too... welcome and thank you! This week the challenge is based around a song that is a favourite of mine and Grim's... and it was playing on the tellybox the other day, I heard and thought... aha! a good theme for the Sunday Stamper. So, the theme is... MORE THAN WORDS. Which basically means, use more than just a word on your entry - a phrase, a greeting or a sentiment... whichever you fancy. To join in is simples; make a little something - it can be anything you feel like. Add in the theme and some stamping and then hop back here to leave me a comment with a link to the place you are showing your entry. If you haven't got a blog or web photo hosting thingy, you can either email me or join in via Facebook. The theme will remain open until 21:00 Saturday 28th July 2012.
My entry this week is a Tando Printer's Tray that I altered and was the subject for yesterdays class. I coloured the outer layer with Black Soot Stain and dried it, sanded it gently and then blended Vintage Photo DI over the sanded bits to age it. Then I took a piece of cardstock and blended Antique Linen Stain over a mask, you have to be quick with this so it doesn't soak too much under the mask but it does give a really cool aged effect. This had a zap with a heat tool and then I took several DI's and That Special Touch and Crafters Workshop masks and layered up the colouring. I just did random patches of each mask/colour for the layering... am loving the haphazard effect of it though. I did some stamping using Indigo Blu and Paper Artsy stamps using co-ordinating Archival Inks, I just love that the Archival colours work so well with the DI's. While I was doing the background for the main piece, I also did an extra bit so I could use it to stamp on for the words etc.
Next came the "more than words" bit - namely from a fab set of Dylusions stamps - I love these words and I also love the different fonts and the boxes around the words to frame them. They were cut up and then popped into the compartments of the tray, some are flat onto the background and the main one is raised up on 3d foam. I added some embellishments - check out the gorgeous Embellish Your Art Studio 490 pieces. These are made by Blossom Bucket, designed by Wendy Vecchi and are made of resin. They are STUNNING... and what's more, they are all flat backed so they can fit flat onto your artwork too. Both of these are plain light colours and I used Veridian Archival ink to colourize them and then gave them a zap with a heat tool to set the Archival ink. Just a tip: Archival Ink is a permanent, oil based, waterproof ink. I use it all the time for my stamping - it gives a lovley crisp image and won't be affected by waterbased products/inks/sprays etc. With this in mind, I always give anything I stamp a quick zap with the heat tool... this ensures it is dry - heat does the setting of the ink - which means no accidental smudgey fingerprints :o)
Right, I had better get a wiggle on - I say that every night I know but I do need some more beauty sleep = I have another class today at The Stamp Attic... getting painty with canvas, I am looking forward to having another fun day. I would have blogged pics from today's class but... alas. I have lost my camera. I am gutted, it was a really good one (remember the video's I did?) I think it must have fallen out of my bag when I got out of the car this morning, by the time I realised it wasn't with me a few hours had passed, I went back to the car to check but nope, not there. So, I am back to using my dreadfully old and ever so blurry old camera... poor old thing, it has taken nearly 8000 photo's so you can kind of understand why it is tired. I need a nice win on the Lotto so I can replace my other one... in the meantime I shall continue to kick myself for being so careless! Anyways... have a lovely day... I hear it is to be sunny! WOW, two days on the trot!! Thanks for looking... TTFN!

Good morning Hels. This is lovely. I love the pretty background. I'm hoping to join in this one too, now that I've finally taken a step a few weeks ago into blogland.
Morning Hels x stunning tray xxx here's my contribution xx https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=166174023516746&set=a.122105931256889.20890.100003724489021&type=3
...gorgeous work Hels, loVe the dreamy colours & all your adornments...Mel :)
Just love the way you have used one piece of cardstock for the whole piece here Hels.
Something totally different coming from me this week - but you'll have to be on tenterhooks(?!!) for a while as it is slightly larger than normal and I'm not as adept at adorning everything as you.
Crossing everything you'll make it onto C&C next week. You are always a joy to watch.
Sorry to hear about your camera. It's a nightmare/so frustrating when things like that happen. Hope you have another fab day today in the sun. Hugs, Buttons x
Absolutely love this Hels! I must get one of these to alter (not that I've done my configurations box yet...) The class sounds great - wish I had been there... and so sorry to hear about your camera. Have another great day today...

Oh Hels, what a thing to happen to your camera ...... I once left one on the back seat of a taxi in American ........ totally gutted! Is it worth looking at your contents insurance?
Your printers tray is fabulous (the theme song is one of my faves too). I love the colours and thanks for the tips about using the masks and stains. Enjoy your workshop today.
Hugs
Lesley Xx
Fabulous tray Hels, love the colours you have created in the background and the words are so lovely.....so sorry to hear about your camera........also sorry that we are unlikely to see you on C&C with all the sellouts, great for C&C but not so great for us! Crafty hugs, Anne x
Great project today Hels, and looking forward to getting on with this week's challenge...really sorry you lost your camera though :( x
Your creation is fabulous, you have inspired me so many thanks.
Another great idea for a challenge - love what you've made especially the colours used and all the words dotted around. What a shame about your camera.
Right. Changed my mind as the filler still has to dry!! Hope you like grey and chartreuse (or just a drop of Chartreuse - for medicinal purposes of course!)
