Ch-Cherry-O Cherry-O-Baby....

...oh blinking blimey and thrice, now I am humming that and shall be for the rest of the day! All because... hurrah... I got chance to play with those GORGEOUS Cherry Blossom Spellbinders. Seriously, I was beyond gutted when I heard they had sold out over the weekend, before I had had chance to show you how much I loved them. And then... hurrah! They came back into stock... so I had chance to play... and then... we ran out of time! So, I thought I would put fingers to keyboard and tell you how I made this card :O)

The size of the card is approx 6" square, the base being made from the milk flavour card from the Neutal cardstock pack - and I tell you what, this cardstock is totes-amazeballs... oh yesh, soft, smooth and ever so sturdy without being too beefy, if you know what I mean. Anyway, in metric, the measurement is 14.5cm square. There is a piece of black card - also from the cardstock pack - which is 14cm square. And then a piece of milk colour which is 13.5cm square. This is the piece that I did all the stamping and decorating onto.

I used Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, stamping the sprig stamp from the Dandelion Wishes set (my fave, did you guess that?) I stamped randomly off the card down the left hand side - the whole idea was to get a bit of a cherry tree look going, without it being too OTT and taking over the decorations. I lightly blended more Victorian Velvet around the edge of the card to give the whole look a frame. The Venetian Motif piece was cut out - I used baking parchment on this - it just helps those wee little lines of card come away from the die so much more easily. The very pointy bits were lightly dabbed with Victorian Velvet DI on a blending tool. I stamped the Studio 490 stamp, which is from Sentimental Art, using Jet Black Archival - remember to give this a zap with a heat tool to set the ink, no smudgy fingerprints then :O)) The Cherry Blossoms and branches were cut using more milk card, embossed and then coloured with more Victorian Velvet for the blooms - lightly dabbing the ink on gives it a nice effect. The branches are coloured with Vintage Photo and all glued onto the card using Cosmic Shimmer glue. Finally, I added some Bakers Twine from the Vintage pack - this stuff is lush... it shows up nicely in the pics I think.

Right then, I must away... I have had a busy day yesterday, sorting the Room of Stash, tidying away (for a change) and making sure that all the de-fruzzing of cobwebs has been done. Isn't it amazing in the space of three weeks that cobwebs have grown to look like barbed wire! Poor ickle spidey's have all been kicked out and are trudging off dejectedly looking for a new home now lol Thanks for looking... as ever, have a FAB day... TTFN!

Oh Hels I am just hoping that I am too too too far away for the eight legged critturs to visit!

As for the card, I loved it as soon as I saw it although (for some reason) I missed out on the cherry blossom die the first time and was annoyed with myself, simply because I thought I would have to wait for ages. I was soooo pleased when I saw it on your show - I ordered it immediately and can't wait to play with it. I do think that this die and the set of stamps are made for each other. Such a lovely layout.

I keep thinking of different times of year you can use the branch as well, ie without the blossom, or with some leaves.

Keep bringing us more ideas pleeeeease.

Hugs Sue P xx

That dandelion stamp set and the cherry blossom spellbinder dies were definitely my favourites from everything you demo'd. Has a lot to do with your samples to be honest. And I have a feeling that you are ahead of the pack, as with the launch of the Graphic 45 range at CHA methinks the Oriental theme is due for a massive comeback.
By the way, thanks for your inspirational masterclass in the August edition of the Craft Stamper which inspired my card for MMM today. You are a star as ever. Hugs, Buttons x
