...make paper roses... but first... WOYWW... oooh, I missed you all last week but the reason for not joining in with the hop was simples... I had nothing new on me desk... plus, I hadn't been able to hop as much the previous weeks... but... I missed you all too much so here I am... showing off my not so messy desk! I know, you will all be dumbfounded but... it has been nearly three months since I last had a nightmare-ishly messy room! What am I on about??? Well, tis Wednesday... so that means it is the day that the craft bloggers of the world unite and do a marathon hop around the Blogosphere... hosted by Desk Inspector in Chief - JULIA - click on her name and you can see what it is all about!
So... the Paper Roses... well, you know I love to make these little cutie roses... and I do them a lot... I have been getting lovely comments and emails asking how I make them... so I thought to myself that I would do a little step by step photo-tutorial... I have typed the instructions on each pic... there are ...ahem... 15 in total!!! If you can't read the instructions straight from the pics here, just click on them to make them bigger... The papers I have used are from the Crowded Attic stack - I use the little 2" snippets for these... but any decent quality doublesided card/paper will work ok... so, here goes... I will shut up whilst you have a look :O))
So... there you go... hope that was helpful for you... and if you do make a paper rose, please do pop back to let me know... I just want to say before I go that in no way did I "invent" this technique... I am just showing you how I make mine... using the pokey tool to curl the petals does make a huge difference as the paper doesn't wrinkle this way... right... am off to sit and wait by the front door because... erm... I have a special parcel arriving tomorrow... and I don't want to miss the UPS guy... more tomorrow!!! TTFN
Hels x
PS... forgot to say... I used the medium Flower Power stamp... available HERE...

Hello Hun, your desk looks like a veritable stash pile ... could happily play there awhile :D x
Thanks Hels! using the skinny poky thing helps tremendously.
You are a generous genious. I have followed your instructions before but never manage to get a 'perfect' flower. These instructions give a couple of other tips so maybe I shall manage it this time. However, just when you thought it was all over -how do you get writing onto your pictures???
hugs Joanne xx
Can't believe your desk is still tidy, you're putting the rest of us to shame!! Love the tutorial, flowers are beautiful.

Brill tutorial - for a non card maker like me! I will give it a go. Thanks for sharing!!
Wow, Hels your desk is still so tidy!!
Great tutorial, you use the same flower stamp that I do. Although I've never managed to get more than 3 layers to look right. And a d'uh moment - why have I never thought of trimming a petal to make the shaping easier?!
If you want a peek at mine they are on an old post HERE and I made baby ones too using the littlest stamp.
Will try more layers next time, thanks for the inspiration. And I must get my hands on that paper!!!
Take care,
Charli x
What a lovely room, and reasonably tidy, how is it done??? Like the tutorial, gonna do one of the roses I make

Your desk has been far too tidy for far too long Hels! Do you have a woman who does? or do you just use the other desk and photograph this one? LOL! Always Love your flowers! I will link my "brown" thing in tomorrow - been flying around desks too much tonight!
Thank you do much for the tutorial! I have been wanting to learn to make these, I know what will be on my workdesk next Wed. -Mari (133)

It's taking me a long time to visit these days, but I'm here...have inspeted and I think your hanging hearts are new to me. They're a gorgeous roundy shape. And you've probably said and it went in one ear and out the other - but what's the 13-6 mean? And of course, the rose tute is PERFECT, love a well photographed lesson; makes me feel like I could actually do it!!
Love the flower tutorial, I think I may actually give that a go! Shaz #148
