Work... ...

...In progress... oh yesh indeedily, inkiness abounds and I am thoroughly covered in ink... I am a happy bunny to have my Mojo back... I am trying to make the most of it just incase it decides to slope off again LOL So, I have seen that the Simon Says Stamp & Show challenge this week is to use a new stamp on your entry... well, it just so happens... *ahem* that I have a few new stamps to play with; namely some Studio 490's that I have been saving up for.

I have had this idea floating about my noddle for a while now... you know those Art Parts that Wendy Vecchi has designed??? Well, I happen to be rather enamoured with them - in other words I totally love them, need a constant supply of them and they are now my favouritist bits of hardware to play with. (oooh, that sounds a bit rude LOL) So, I have been using the Art Parts to make some hangy pieces but I wanted to do something a little different. Now, the Art Parts are just as the name suggests... parts for art... and it just so happens that there are some lovely scalloped borders that have holes already punched in them. They look lovely as a border along the top or bottom of a piece.. .but what about on the side??? With some book rings threaded through so as to make a... book!

Well, I finally got around to starting this project last night... starting off by making a larger version of the "mini heart" flower that I made earlier this week. I am so happy that I have a hot glue gun because it has made life soooo much easier when it comes to putting together a fiddlesome thing like the flower. To make the flower, I stamped 25 mini hearts onto Grungepaper and then cut them out. I separated them into two piles, one for the outer layer and one for the middle. They were covered with Distress Ink and then assembled and finally, I popped a little red UTEE heart I made using a mould and some... erm... UTEE. Whilst the flower is a bit fussy, I do like it... nay and thrice... I love it!!! I can see that these will be these popping up all over the place now. I am working on a metal version of one too... but that will have to wait until I have this book is finished.

At the moment I have the front cover completed... and I have the back cover half done... just needing some florally embellies to be popped onto that... and then I have to work out the sizings for the pages... I have some greyboard which I can chop up for those so that isn't such a big deal but this is going to be one of those projects that I am not going to rush... so I can add to it over the next few weeks so it ends up exactly how I want it. I am thinking three pages inside but knowing me, that will grow and I will end up with more LOL All the stashly goodies I have used are available from The Stamp Attic

Oh, you remember when I said one of the New Years resolutions was to keep the Room of Stash tidy... and to tidy away after each crafty session? Well... it's like this... I erm... have... broken that three times over... the room is back to the state it was a few weeks ago when it took me 11 hours to tidy up again... you'd have thought that I would have learned but I do have a really good excuse for today - why I don't have to tidy up my mess... well, we just got a new freezer and... the old one needs defrosting... *I have a feeling I have used this excuse before but this time it is true!!!* so I have to spend the day at the ice-face, chipping away the eqivalent of the north face of the Eiger... either that or I could just turn the freezer off, bung a few towels in there and then get inky again and carry on with my book...oooh, decisions, decisions LOL Thanks for looking... have a grand weekend - ooo and don't forget - a brand new Sunday Stamper theme tomorrow... and I have a guest challenge setter who has chosen a FAB theme!!! TTFN

You see, that's why i don't do resolutions well I don't make NY resolutions, but that's not to say I don't promise myself to try to make changes, but that can be any time of the year.

Great idea to use the art parts as a way to bind the book on the side! A darling piece, and the heart-flower is just amazing. I may have to copy it and make a valentine for someone special, ....really special. Hope you won't mind.

PS Next time, get one of those spray thingies to defrost with - makes it a complete doddle!

Fab little book Hels and that flower is just gorgeous. I admire your patience putting it together. A hot glue gun was one of the first tools I bought when I got the crafting bug but it sits in a drawer unused after my first session with it. I got the darned glue everywhere!!!!

Hugs
