Techno-phobe to Techno-rocking!

........Yeeeehaw! You know I said I have a new lappy....Lionel being its name...well, I lost a load of my old filey settinging thingy's when the old one conked out...and I have been a right old grump because I didn't like the new thingy's I had to use to do my photo's and I decided straight away I hated PSPX2 and Xara...well...what a difference a few hours and an ever so patient Grim can do !!!! Check out my new blog header....honestly, if you knew how long I have wanted my very own blog header and never known how to do it...so this evening I fiddled about with Xara *under a bit of...ok, a lot of... Grim's guidance* and managed to make something a bit different. Now...do you like it???? :O)) And...I also got used to the PSPX2 jobby and have managed to do my photo's better...*please note, this techno-phobe thing of mine will never go away...just clicking the mouse and pushing a delete button brings me out in a cold sweat ROFL*

Here are the last couple of ATC's for the book I made using just Maya Road, Distress Inks and Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 stamps. The first pic is of the front...using Dusty Concord and Mustard Seed which I think go really well together...and I have found out why...another Googley thingy done...it is because they are opposite each other on the colour wheel...well I never!

The back of the ATC was coloured using the same inks and I made a splodgy Dusty Concord watery spritz on my craft sheet and stamped a long flowery border into this, then straight onto the ATC base...drying quickly with a heatgun so it gives a more watermarky effect. The butterfly was made using Grungeboard...and adding some Idea-ology foliage and mini pins for the wings and antennae...another fab idea borrowed from Wendy herself :O))

This is the little taglet that comes with the beady chain on the Maya Road ATC book....I just DI'd it and then made an Idea-ology rose (some bloke called T!m showed us how to do this on the Twelve Tags 09 and I can't stop making them now ) which also tied in with the Sunday Stamper challenge this week...BTW, there is still loads of time for you to join in with the challenge...if you click here you can see the original post about it :O)

I have jiggled with the pic I took of the book as a whole .... it has been PSPX2'd and I think it looks heaps better now ... ah, get me...talking all techernogicallily *this is a new word I have made up to describe what it is I do with computery things... One day, perhaps, I will be able to speak like a proper knowledgeable person who knows computery things and isn't a complete dimwith like what I is ROFL All of the stash used on this book is available from The Stamp Attic.

Thanks for looking...as I type, the white stuff is a falling from the skies again...and settling on the ground...just hoping it isn't a big fall like last month tho...Ferdy is back and healthy again and I want to be able to go for a little drive in him :O)) Have a great day...keep warm!

Hels x

Congrats on your technological savvy! And I'm so glad you've discovered the joys of colour wheels. I've heard people scoff at them, but they're such a great tool.

And then there is the art itself. Fabulous, as ever.

Gorgeous art as ever Hels. I love your ATC's.
The colour wheel is a great help in creating, knowing tonal values comes in handy too. I've done a lot of painting and drawing over the years and these and other tools and know how are a great help in any type of artwork.
I love the new header, and well done in figuring this all out, even if you did need guidance from your clever man.
I'm not that clever and haven't even ventured a step on the way to blogging, I only have basics in this techy world.
No snow here in my wee bit of Scotland yet today, though the forecast says it's coming back.

Yes I love your header, it's very you ;) Love all the ATCs - fabby. Hels I'm shocked, I thought you already knew all about primary, secondary, tertiary colours etc etc, colours next to each other and opposite each other on the colour wheel hehehe - not that I do ;) You always manage to use colours that go together anyway - you must just have an eye for it :)
Strange you should mention about a flamingo - the pink thing is a chair in the making - but I was thinking the other day about making a flamingo I don't really know why now, but perhaps it was the fabric.
