Sunday Stamper - Week 41 - My Favourite Things

Morning Stampers!

I hope you have all had a fabulous Christmas and had a lovely relaxing time. Christmas here at Chez Hels was a quiet affair but totally what both Grim and I needed! Lots of lovely scrummy food - I reckon I must have put on a fair few lbs - and just the peace and quiet made it really special. AlfieCat totally adored his presents too...he got a new Scratching Post, some sweeties, some crunchy treats, a dangly mousey thing and a new catnip mouse, which he is ragging around the house as I type!!

Anyway, enough of me waffling away ... without further ado, here is the name of the winner of the Blog Candy from last weeks Sunday Stamper:

**drumroll please**

Sue

Well done Sue and thank you for joining in hun - I will pop your Candy in the post to you tomorrow :O))

The theme this week is a little different to the norm - as it is nearly a year since the Sunday Stamper first started and as we always have a set theme, I thought that this week we would have a "free" theme. So, you don't need to have "raindrops on roses" or "whiskers on kittens" on your artwork - all you need to do is make something that incorporates your Favourite Things. :O))

My effort is only part finished at the moment ... whoops-a-daisy, late as usual!! I will upload my piccies later today, once the piece is completely dried etc.

All you need to do to join in is make something that uses stamping and your favourite things. For mine, I have used my favourite base which is canvas, my fave stamps, colours etc. Once you have made your piece, please leave a message here with a link to the place you are showing your work of art. I will pop by and have a nosey at your work of art, which is the best bit for me as I love seeing all your different interpretations of the theme :O))

All that is left for me to say now is ... have fun ... and thank you all for joining in with my themes each week. I have loved setting the challenges for you all - and have loved wandering around Blog Land and looking at your incredible talents.

Thanks for looking!

Hels xx

Much Later........

Hi again,

Here is my canvas - I finally managed to get it finished :O))

Just quickly to let you know how I made it:

I painted the whole surface with Artistic Stamper Mica Paints using a mix of purple and blue. When this was dry, I over painted the surface with gold Acrylic Dabber and then dried with a heatgun. This made the paint bubble up, which is what I hoped for as once this layer was dry, I scratched at the bubbled bit with my fingernail and revealed the purpley colour underneath! I stamped a gorgoeus lacey background onto a dressmaking pattern and tore bits of it up and stuck it to the canvas using watered down PVA. The dressmaking pattern sort of disolves in the glue so it leaves a really nice stamped image but you can't see the paper.

I used some of the fabby new Claudine Hellmuth sticky canvas and stamped several of my Stitchels flowers onto it. I painted them in using Dusty Concord Distress Ink and then cut them out and popped them onto some thin metal, which meant that I could bend the canvas to give some depth to the flowers.

Using some more of the sheet metal, I stamped another Artistic Stamper background, this time using the diamond pattern. I cut around a portion of the image and then embossed with a pointy tool thing and then added patterns using some other fancy tools that I am not sure of the name of - as you can guess, I am new to the metal art stuff of Ten Second Studio's!!! LOL
A couple of pieces of stampbord, inked with Distress Inks, stamped with my fave stamps and then UTEE'd with clear powder by The Artistic Stamper and there you are, an assembled canvas using a few of my favourite things.

However, I reckon I am going to have to make something else cos I didn't feature any Tim Holtz stamps, Grungeboard, embellishments....oh the list is endless :O))

Thanks for looking, hope you are having fun with this challenge
