Sunday Stampers - Week 31 - Purple Rain

Good Morning Stampers,

Well, I know the Sunday Stamper has been AWOL again but we are back, fighting fit and raring to go again.

This week the theme has been inspired by something I heard last night. I was watching X Factor and Ruth sang the most fabulous rendition of Purple Rain by Prince. Well, that got me to thinking that I have almost always used a song title for the Sunday Stamper and have been scratching my head a little recently to find a compatible song to link in with stamping. And how stoopid of me not to think of using colours before!

So, this week starts a whole "season" of songs that have a colour in the title - I am making notes as I go so there will be a fair few I reckon :O))

All you need to do to join in is make something, be it a card, ATC, 4x4...the choice is yours - so long as it is purple!

I made a card already and have a little mini canvas just waiting to be finished. I thought I would pop pics of the card on here now and add the little canvas later on.

I used the Batik method for the main image of my card - stamping in clear and embossing in clear directly onto blank cream card. I then used a blending tool and coloured over the whole surface of the card using Dusty Concord Distress Ink. I spritzed this with Tattered Angels Pearl Glimmer Mist and then once this had dried, I heated up my little travel iron and popped some brown paper over the top of the embossed image. I ironed the brown paper and this results in the embossed image re-melting and it soaks into the brown paper. I love this finish as it really does look effective.

I matted some coloured card and mirri card together and assembled the card and then as a little finishing touch, I stamped a co-ordinating flower head three times onto shrink plastic and made little dangly embellies. I attached these to a Trinket Pin from the Idea-ology range and then stuck the pin thru another flower head image I had done using the brushless watercolour method.

I hope you like the theme - a nice easy one and I know lots of peeps love purple...enjoy! Once you have made your creation, please add a post here, along with a link to the place you are showing your entry. I will pop by and have a nosey at what you have made later on.

Thanks for looking - Hels x

PS - forgot to credit the stamps - the main image and background flower are by Stampendous and the greeting is by Penny Black :O))

Later......
Aha! I am back....Here is the little mini canvas that I made earlier - now it is finally dry. It is only about ATC sized so just a quick little make. I first of all Gesso'd the whole surface and let this try. Then I used Texture Paste to create a bumpy look to a couple of the corners. Once this had dried I painted the surface with Purple Twilight Dabber by Adirondack. This was a little dark so I painted over the top with a watered down mix of Cool Peri Dabber. Once this had dried I added Silver metallic dabber to the bumpy bits and let this dry. I got fed up with all the waiting about = am such an impatient crafter - so I went for a little snooze and this passed my time more quickly LOL

The stamping was done onto an old dressmaking pattern using StaZon ink. The stamp is from Stampers Anon and is in the Tim Holtz ATC range. I cut the image closely and then pasted this over the top of the canvas using watered down PVA glue. Again, more waiting about for drying.....I did toy with the idea of getting the grown up iron out and making a start on the mountain that has grown this week - but then decided to have another little snooze instead :O)) Finally, all dry, I used a piece of Stampbord, painted it Purple Twilight and then stamped the co-ordinating single stamp that matches the one on the ATC collage. I scratched at it with a tool thingy and then popped this onto the canvas. More drying time now cos I added Crackle Glaze to the butterfly wings....so yep, you guessed it...another snooze! I should rename my blog the Snoozey Crafter :O))

Anyways, enough waffle from me - off to finish cooking the roast lamb dinner....mmmmmmm, yum!!!

I saw Ruth singing that last night - she was absolutely brilliant - and I love Prince so was worried she would ruin it!! The TSV on QVC today is a lovely kipling bag and the one I love is the purple one - I think there's a theme developing here!!!! Nearly forgot to say - love the card Hels, I'm going off to create something purple now xx

OK... back to re-read how you did it... cos I have 2 ATC's on my desk and they both look like carp... but I appear to have done what you said... except for the iron bit... (was trying to avoid getting it out cos DH might think I mean to do his shirts)... so maybe that's where I am going wrong... LOL

Thanks for joining in everyone....InkyThings - I cannot get onto your Blog to see what you made :O(( For some reason it is blocking me? VoodooVixen - thanks for the comments hun...did you try with the iron yet? I have a little travel iron so I can sneakily do the crafty stuff without even having to see the grown up iron LOL xx

I'm back.... OMG - I've turned into a stalker!! OK - so you have a heck of a lot to answer for Hels, I found the iron - in its box on a shelf in the laundry room and got it out... and I ironed the two carp ATC's - but I don't have any brown paper so had to use typing paper and they are still carp!! :( I made a purple mini book for Halloween... will that do? PMLing....
