Altered Clipboard

Hello,

It is my dear Mum-In-Law's birthday tomorrow so I decided to make a little handmade pressie for her. She is an avid gardener and has the most gorgeous garden packed full of colourful flowers and plants. I wanted to make something relevant to her hobby and useful too. Inspired by a project I saw in a wonderful book by Sharon Currier called Spray Paint Paper Craft, I decided to alter a clipboard that I bought a year ago and hadn't got around to changing it!!

I started off altering the board by sanding the whole of the front of it so it had a "key" to work onto. I used Adirondack Dabber in Purple Twilight for the base, painting it on with a soft brush. Once this was dry, I chose some heavenly papers by Basic Grey from the Fusion range. I cut the paper to fit the board and added an extra torn piece to the bottom to create a pocket to keep seeds in.

I then cut up some white paper and used a repositionable tape to make a "post it" note style pad. I inked some Cut & Dry foam and blended this over the top sheet of the pad and stamped To Do onto it.

I used a stitch stamp for the paper, to make this look like it had been sewn. I will add that I could have sewn it properly...I do have a whizzy sewing machine but I have not got the first idea how to use it!! I am so stupid with things like that!!

I used Grungeboard Mini Alphabets and painted them with the same paint to make a little title for the board and then sanded the letters to make them look a bit shabby.

Before I stuck the paper onto the board, I used a background crackle stamp by Crafty Individuals, stamping using Gold Dabber as I have lost my gold ink pad!

I covered part of the clip with Goss Boss and then embossed with gold powder to make the colour match in more. The charms i used were all silver so I used my fave Krylon and coloured them gold and then added them to the board.

The pencil is a cheapy one from Tesco which was yellow...eek, far too bright, so I scraped all the paint off and then sanded it, making a little flap so it could be stored on the board itself.

I cut out a flower from the paper and then added a little dragonfly charm to the centre of it and finally added some ribbons to the top of the clip.

I think this is about all I did with it....I am really happy that I made this and Mum-in-Law loved it...and loved the seeds too :O))

Thanks for looking

Hels x
