A Book For Linda

I made this book for my friend Linda. I know how much she loves Altered Art and Tim Holtz and I wanted to make a Bind It All project for her using Tim's techniques and products. I have used File Tab cards as the bases of the pages, I bought these from a local stationery supplies shop....they were the perfect size for the project and also because the cards had tabs, they made the book have an order too. I also used various other materials for the inserts such as mountboard and little off cuts of a wooden venetian blind!
The covers were made using mountboard covered in brown paper and then distressed to look aged. I then stamped a couple of images onto it and stuck a strip of "wooden" ruler paper on the side of it. Finished off with a tassle (which I made myself :o)) only because Dan taught me how to!!) and a little charm that says HandMade.

I decided to have hidden elements in the project to add a bit more interest to the pages. I made a small file folder using plain cardstock and distressed it with inks and water. Then I added a metal photo turn to the main page so the little file folder could remain closed. I used a mixture of Tim Holtz Collection stamps and Catslife Press stamps on these pages. The little "look" stamp and the eyeglass stamp and great ways of pointing the viewer in the direction of the secret words and images!

Linda's hero is Tim Holtz so I used a scanned copy of a picture of him that is on the packaging for his Cropper Hopper storage boxes. :o))
I made a little tag to insert landscape into the book, I used two pieces of card stuck together to make this tag and left the top of the tag unstuck, so I could then add another smaller tag as another little element to find. I used the {Pull This} stamp to let her know that there was something else to look at! This is another stamp from Catslife Press .....do you see a theme building here? LOL

More little tags feature throughout the book, and I have set all of them landscape so it contrasts to the portrait binding of the book. Again, using Distress Inks, Catslife Press stamps and a few small tags I handmade, I have made more features to be found.

On the last page, I have used Stampbord, which I have coloured with Distress Ink and then stamped over with the image, then I have scratched the Stampbord, so it gives a lovely highlighted look to the final image. Using my Crop-A-Dile, I punched holes in the Stampbord and added little charms using jump rings. The Wooden Inserts are again, off cuts from a venetian blind! I have used Alcohol Inks to colour them, and then stanmped the images using a Versafine Archival inkpad...and then to set the image, I have used clear embossing powder and heated up to give a glossy finish.

I really enjoyed making this book for Linda....it is because of her that I am really into stamping and Altered Art...she is to blame for this obsession of mine!! (Well, and the fact that I too think that Tim is a wonderful inspiration)

Thanks for looking
