Sunday Stampers - Week 35 - Golden Brown

Good Morning Stampers,

Thank you for joining in with the last challenge - sorry I have not been about much to visit you - had one of those weeks and I have now got the mother of all pain in my right arm as well as my back :O(( I think I have managed to get a nerve trapped in my shoulder and elbow, which has made my arm a bit useless, it is taking me ages to type this (more than normal LOL) and I took about an hour just to make my little contribution for this week. Woe is me!! *one, two, three....awwwww!!! :O))

The theme this week is carrying on with the colour themes from previous weeks - only this week it is a little different as we have two colours to incorporate into the design.

I absolutely love the song Golden Brown by The Stranglers and what better way to use the words than interpret them into some artwork!

I made another butterfly for the Butterfly Project (see last weeks Sunday Stamper post for more details) and just used Distress Inks, Glimmer Mist and Acrylic Paint along with a loverly Agapanthus Head stamp from Stampendous.

As usual, please pop a note here when you have made your piece of art and add a link to the place where you are showing yours.

I am going off to sit on the sofa and feel sorry for myself now but will be back later to see what you have done :O)) Also, I will catch up and visit all of you from last week....hope that the meds will kick in and I will be able to do this later.....in the meantime......

Thanks for looking and have fun.

I have seen a few comments here and on other peeps Blogs about the song Golden Brown and the fact that this is actually a song about the drug Heroin. I wish it to be know that I am sorry if any of you were offended by my song choice this week, however, I wasn't aware of what it represented, I don't condone the use of drugs and I certainly don't think that there is any relevance to heroin in my little piece of artwork.

And seeing as Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is about LSD and that also is one of my fave songs, perhaps I really am just one of those people who love a good tune and don't really think too deeply about the words contained therein.

Golden Brown was released when I was a little girl , it reminds me of long hot summers and butterflies, that is all...again, sorry if any one has been offended by my choice, but I will just say that I set a challenge every week for people to join in with and get stamping. The title of the Sunday Stamper challenge is always a song title. Sometimes, I love the song I have chosen, other times I just use it because it fits in with the theme I have chosen. There are thousands of songs out there and I cannot really vet each one I chose just in case it has a hidden meaning.

Again, this is only a little weekly challenge and not anything that is mandatory. Stampers join in with the challenge at their own pleasure. I don't think that anyone would be encouraged to go out and try some heroin just because they have seen the words on my Blog - after all, if the song was that that scandalous, it would never have been released into the charts!

Sunday Stampers - Week 34 - Love Is Like A.....

Morning Stampers,

Another Sunday, which means another new challenge from the Sunday Stamper. This week my theme is Butterfly.

Now, there is a very special reason why I have chosen this theme this week. If you click here, you will be magically transported to Dan's Blog. Dan has posted this week about a most wonderful request from The Holocaust Museum in Houston. They are hoping to collect 1.5million decorated butterflies and hold an exhibition in 2012, showing all of the butterflies they have been sent, and this exhibition will be held to commemorate that 1.5million children who lost their lives in the Holocaust. Dan has done his usual magic and made a template for two butterfly designs, which you can download to use with a CriCut or, if like me you haven't got a CriCut, you can also download the images straight to your printer. I printed off several of the butterflies and then simply cut them out. *I will at this point remind you all that I am a completely useless computery person and I was well chuffed that I managed to do this downloading lark all by myself :O)) The only stipulation is that you don't use any glitter on your decorated butterflies.

I would love that peeps could hop over to Dan's Blog and read all about this very special request - and maybe decorate your own butterfly.

However, if you are limited for time etc, please join in the Sunday Stamper anyway - simply use a butterfly stamp or incorporate a butterfly in your stamped design this week. Once you have completed your artwork, please pop a message on here and add a link to the place where you are showing your entry.

Yesterday I spent a lovely crafty day with my friend Linda. Whilst I am a bit slow at crafting at the moment cos of my horrid pain, I did manage to make a few butterflies for this good cause. After cutting out the images, I simply decorated with stamping techniques and inkyness.

I will just mention that the stamps I used on this fancy butterfly - wow, they are the brand new Flourish designs from The Artistic Stamper. Oh my goodness, I simply adore these new designs, they are so fabby to use and I know you will all think I am biased, but seriously, they are so versatile and just perfect!! :O)) Go on, you know you need to have a look here, don't you LOL

Here is one that I only managed to half do - I will try to get it finished later but thought I would include this piccie so you can see how easy it is to just download and print off the butterfly itself.

Anyway, thanks for looking and reading everyone - I think that this is a wonderful tribute to all those innocents who lost their lives so needlessly.
