... I don't know about you but I am a teensy bit of a hoarder. Not often do I chuck stuff away... if fact, nay and thrice, you could say I keep everything cos one day it will "come in...." You the same? Well, I have this shelf above my desk and every so often it turns into the Shelf of Doom. It is the dumping ground for lots of stuff that I have planned to use on my creations but then changed my mind. I know, it would be easier to actually not be a lazy old bat and actually just put said stuff away but... well, you know what it is like don't you? (please say yes!)
Anyways... I decided to have a bit of a de-clutter of the Shelf of Doom. But then I got all pre-occupied with some cardboard bits I had found... namely a corrugated cardboard heart that had been painted red. I couldn't bring myself to chuck it away... but the red looked really naff. So, I grabbed another piece of card and turned them both into blue by blending Mermaid and South Pacific Fresco Paints onto them. Of course, a bit of stamping had to be included so I used that delish new Watering Can Archival from Wendy & Ranger and stamped a Kaisercraft scripty background onto the card base bit. And cos I could, I used Cornflower Archival and stamped the distressed diamonds (also Kaisercraft) onto the heart. Actually, you can't really see them cos I then dumped a load of flowers over the top! Whhoooops!
The flowers were also on the Shelf of Doom... plain white and very boring... so a bit of attention with Dylusions and Cosmic Shimmer sprays changed them to match the base bits. Of course, I had to use some embellies... and all these were on the Shelf of Doom too! Now, it makes my shelf sounds massive but it isn't really... it is very very piled high you see ;O)) Once everything was stuck together I popped it onto a bit of black mountboard and added on some Treasure Gold bits of jazz it up and then some string for the hanging bit... oh and the words are also from the Shelf of Doom... I remember the project I wanted these for and I changed my mind... so there you go, I am using up stuff after all!
Today I am venturing off to Birds in the Barn in Essex for two days of inky festive classes... so as I type this, it is actually last night... not today after all (and now we go down the whole, if it is now it is actually tomorrow and not really yesterday... and all of that sillliness.... you know what I means though... ) So, it is time for me to loves ya and leaves ya... don't forget, I have a giveaway (scroll down for the next post) and it is open until Sunday night! Thanks for looking, have a grand day! TTFN

What a fabulous hanging Hels. Funnily enough I have been clearing my shelf of doom too. I love creating with dylusions paints and use them on my flowers. Enjoy your classes. Hugs Rita xxx
This is superb, love the blue and all from a shelf of doom, now do I need one ;-) x
Your Shelf of Doom sounds an intriguing place, would love a rummage - but I suspect it is very like my whole living room-cum-craftroom which is one whole dumping ground...!! Have a great, crafty weekend. Oops, nearly forgot to say, what a GORGEOUS blue flowery hanging piece you've created, I loves it lots!
Hi Hels. Great piece, I love the colours. I have a self cleaning shelf of doom! It works by all of the stuff falling off when I try to squeeze that one final piece too many on to it :) Take care.
Fabulous creation Hels..I reckon I have a whole craft room of doom at them moment because I can't move in here!!! Big plans for a total overhaul once all my Christmas makes are complete...:) Carole Z X
Hi Hels well It looks as though we all have shelf or rooms of doom. I use my spare bedroom and at the moment the room of dread is , okay beyond messy. Never mind it's good when you find something you forgot you had in first place. Love the hanging the colours are divine, have a great few days x
Morning Hels, Yes, me too !! I am a definite hoarder and my hubby too is a hoarder, he has managed to repair numerous items with stuff 'that might come in for something', which is a good thing, just pity we don't have a house with 'elastic sides' haha.
Your hanging is stunning, I love the colours and the shiny bits, stunning.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Morning Hels,
What a master piece. X
That's it I'm chucking all my bits away because none of it could ever make a beautiful piece of art like that. Must get that treasure gold though
Xx
Well if that's what's on a shelf of doom, I WANT ONE TOO!!!!!! having said that I think I have about 3 boxes of bits and pieces I keep just in case and one is full of christmas papers etc.
What fantastic colours Hels - your shelf of doom has some lovely stash sitting on it. Have a good weekend. Pat x
Love this, stunning colours. Three cheers for hoarding lol xx
Hels, loving the blue art heart. Like you, I'm a terrible hoarder - I've got a pile of stuff in the corner of my craft room that I intend to "alter" one day (when that will be, heaven knows), but I can't bear to bin it. The pile gets bigger by the week. I'm glad it's not just me!! Take care. Jean.x
I don't have a shelf of doom. My hubby thinks its a room of doom! Love the blue. X
this is wonderful hels - really must start using cardboard more - the corrugation looks awesome - I don't think those flowers would ever have made it into my 'dumping ground' as I call it (equiv to your shelf of doom) - they are far too pretty xx
