Love Beeswax...

...and indeedily I do!  This is one of the demo pieces I made during the shows this week.  Before I go waffling on, seriously, I mean, realllly seriously... THANK YOU all!!! The response has been phenominally amazing.  Not only have you all sent in the most brilliant and lovely emails to the shows, you also left me lovely comments here, on Facebook, Tweets... emails... wow!  I am playing catch up at the moment because I want to read them all properly.  Also, I am a little slow catching up on Sunday Stamper entries this week, I will get to visit you... and I do appreciate all your fab entries too!  I am busy prepping for my Altered Mirror Melt Class tomorrow at The Craft Den in Sheffield = and I just spoke with Lynne, she has had a cancellation this morning so there's a space if you are interested.  Give Lynne a bell on 0114 234 0732 for more deets :O))

And on with the crafty make on todays post.  So, it is no secret that I loves everything Studio 490 - and the substrate for this piece is indeedly, Studio 490 Art Part goodies.  The base is from the Large Circles & Squares set and then the hearts and the LOVE are from the Hearts, Love & Stars sets.  They sold out on the shows but I am sure that you will be able to find them if you search yonder t'internet :O)    This piece features a beeswax and napkin collage.

The base was painted with Mushroom Eco Paint and then I de-plyed a fancy napkin so it was only the printed layer left, I then tore up the bits I wanted to use and layered them onto the base and painted on beeswax - I use a dedicated brush that is real hair for this, a synthetic brush will frazzle in the heat.  Also, remember to use your heat tool to re-melt the beeswax so you can paint it over properly... re-melting is key for this technique.    I added splodges of beeswax to the corners and then once set, popped Biscotti Perfect Pearls over the top and buffed it, making it nice and shiny.  The hearts are layered up, the bottom one painted with Black Eco Paint and the top with more of hte Mushroom.  I then layered on some more of the napkin and did the same beeswax technique.   The flowers are made using the six petal stamp from the Button Florals set and then once assembled, dipped into the beeswax, along with a couple of Nested Leaves...erm.. .leaves!

Like I said... I am truly overwhelmed by the response to the Four Day Deal... it was a lot of hardwork and the old war wound was playing up but the adrenaline of the shows kept me going.  I still can't figure out how to stop the old shakey hands and nerves, I reckon it is just something that I will have to put up with .... it is weird really, I can stand up and teach a class of lots of people but on camera? Nervous wreckingtons!  Right, I shall away, I have all the stuff from this week to unpack (I hate unpacking) and then I needs to get re-packed for tomorrow's class!   Thanks for looking.... have a fabby day! TTFN

you are amazing tons - can't say I saw any shaking hands whilst I was watching - although, at one stage I would have liked your hands to go around a certain presenters neck!! you could shake them then!!!! roflxx I actually think you came across in a clear, precise and professional manner - and very confident!

The shows were fab and you're so inspirational - hope the back isn't too bad now xx

I am so sorry that the melt pot programmes are over. It is the only time that I have ever watched every hour of a four day deal. You were brilliant and didn't come across at all about being nervous in front of the cameras, although I can well understand just how nerve racking it must be. I shall now certainly be investing in some new colours of UTTE and dusting off my melt pot. I shall also try beeswax for the first time. Absolutely brilliant Hels. Thanks so much. I also had fun getting my husband to guess what you used to do for a living. Needless to say he had to give up in the end!

Hi Hels, you may think you look nervous but you certainly don't appear to be - you did a brilliant job on all the shows and I hope they bring you back soon to do shows in your own name. You are so inspirational and show so many techniques - I now want a melt pot after years of resisting because I just want to have a go with the beeswax! Hope you get a bit of a rest after the weekend. Hugs, Anne x

Another fab piece. I'm loving the way the flowers and leaves look coated with beeswax. What brand/kind of beeswax are you using? Maybe I could find something similar here in the States. Thanks SOO much for your inspiration and humorous waffling s. :) Nan at froggydesigns3 at yahoo dot com

Oh I did feel for you when your back was obviously painful, you were a complete trooper! Btw, I watched all shows & didn't notice your hands shaking? Everyone was so engrossed, only you would have been aware.
I won't waffle on as a) mine isn't fun to read like yours & b) only just left message on other post. Getting muddles worded up!! Oh, I did get bits out for tomorrow stamp challenge but really don't think it'll be done in time. Won't be anything to write home about anyways so...
Phew!! Squidge of course for Alfie cat... Caroline :)))
