Sunday Stamper - Week 198 - Blackbird

Goodly Morning Stampers and a very happy Spring Sunday to you all. Thank you all for your fab entries last week... and apologies that I haven't got around to all your entries yet... will get chance to visit you on Monday :O)) The theme this week is inspired by the birdsong in my garden the other morning... 4am and blackbirds were warbling, what a lovely sound! So, the theme is... BIRDS. To join in with the challenge is simples: make a little something, it can be anything you like, include some stamping and the theme and then hop back here to leave me a comment with a link to the place you are showing your entry. As ever, you can join in by blogging/picassa/facebook or if you haven't any of these, simply drop me an email with a piccie... I do truly appreciate all your entries. Also... have you noticed the number of Sunday Stampers that have been? Nearly at the 200 mark so I have a little something up my sleeve for that one... two weeks to go! This weeks challenge will remain open until 21:00 Saturday March 31st 2012.

So, my entry, inspired by "Scruffy" the old blackbird that looks a bit battered and feather-worn... and his sparing partner, Reggie the Robin. I am sure they are having singing competitions every morning... tis like a birdy version of The Voice lol I made a tag using a mix of Aged Mahogany and Picket Fence Stains as the base and then added some background stamping using Sepia Archival and a couple of flourishes in Jet Black Archival.

The birdcage is die cut from the Alterations die using Grungepaper... and the birdy is made from Grungeboard... the cage was pounced with Gold Dabber so it left stipples... and once dried, I patted Sepia Archival over it... the ink sits on top of the peaky bits making it look a bit rusty. The bird was coloured with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain DI's. I then got thoroughly carried away with lots of Idea-ology to decorate the tag... check out the cutest of cute - Gem Clips... I just know they will be my new fave thing!

So... here I am at Dawn's lovely home... the classes yesterday were fab, it was lovely to meet so many lovely ladies who all really enjoyed themselves and... I get to do it all again today with two more classes... and... ssshhh, don't tell anyone but... there just so happens to be a hooooge shop for me to be let loose in tomorrow... I can see a few goodies making their way back to the Room of Stash.. .ooh, not to mention that handbag that fell into my basket too lol Right, I shall away... an hour less sleep tonight (thank you Grim for reminding me about the clocks... otherwise I would be late up in the morning!) Have a great Sunday... thanks for looking... and... TTFN!

Hels x

Rocking awesome tag...love that caged up bird and the pink is devine! I didn't have a lot of time, but I can't miss a SS, so I used a technique tag from Tim's CC101, hope that's ok. It's very basic!
