WOYWW... A Plausible Excuse!

...Nay and thrice cor blimey... today is Wednesday already... which can mean only one thing... it is time for the creative desks of the World of Blog to be aired once again on the marathon bloghop that is... What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday... or WOYWW for short. Thunked up, devised, hosted etc by the one and only Head Desk Inspector-in-Chief, Julia Dunnit, if you click HERE you will be whizzed off on the back of a rather lazy tortoise to see all the deets. Mmm, that has me thinking now (don't worry, I am seated so no extra stress on the old bod)... How do you pronounce tortoise? Being of Northerly descent, I say Tortoyce... whereas, I am reliably informed, it is Tortuss (thank you Grim for your expert Southerly interjection there... seriously folks, I just said to Grim, "what do you call a thing that is like a turtle but smaller?"... he says... "Terapin" *he is a card rofl* So, I then said, "no, the thing that is between a terapin and a turtle"... he says... "Tortuss") So... how do you say it huh? Or, am I just waffling on boringly as usual? (no need to answer that one lol)

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dearily me... my desk!!! This week!!! That is its true and proper state. Basically I have a very goodly excuse... because... I am good at excuses... ok, no, seriously, I am not good at excuses, I am good at embellishing facts! The desk... had the contents of my crafty totey case thing that I cart about the country, full of stashly bits etc... well, the desk had the case emptied onto it on Sunday... and then some of the stuff was put away... and then I needed bed... so I left it for "the morning". Which has now been extended to "tomorrow morning" (meaning Tuesday) and now extended further to "the day after tomorrow morning" Which is, in fact, today! Confused? I am! rofl Now, do you like my new plant? Grim came home the other day with it... he got me a plant because knowing I would be away for the weekend, flowers wouldn't have been seen for long enough... so a plant for the Room of Stash! How lovely is my Grim? And.. how lucky am I huh? Anyways... it is a Bromelia and the yellow sticky out jobbies are flowers... and they are starting to stand up a bit and open out a bit... I am usually quite good with plants... I have one in the living room that is about 10 years old... my lovely F-i-L bought it for me and it is now mahoosive and takes up most of the window sill... it's a Prayer Plant and every night it pops its leaves upwards. I have decided to name the latest addition to the Room of Stash... so he is now known as Bryn the Bromelia... I think it suits him :O)) *not that I think Bromelia's are Welsh, in fact, I am pretty certain they aren't, but I rather like the way to say Bryn...*

I shalln't keep you any longer because I know how exhausting it can be trying to deciper my encripted twaddle so I shall say... have a goodly day... and... TTFN!

Hels x

PS... if any of you lovely peeps could link me up today please cos I am going to be a bit busy at 6am... errrrm.. sleeping (well, it is like 1am now so I am allowed, I guess?) Anyways, ta very muchly indeed :O))

Where I am, an ocean and most of a continent away on the West Coast of the USA, we say "tortuss". =) And for future reference, your waffling always cracks me up!

I can't believe that, we bought a Bromelia 2 days ago - an orange one- for next to my DH's desk. It didn't have a "tortoys" on it though.

Yup, tortuss - anyhow, love your desk, hope you are still soundly asleep after all that waffling - which is always great, never fear.

Hmm. I'm a northerner and I say tortuss. Of course, my dad's a Yank and my mum, although from Yorkshire, speaks RP, so who knows what's going on with me? In fact, who knows what's going on with me at all!

A Welsh Bromeliad - well, look you, there's thing. They're a rare thing in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogeruchwyndrobwyllllantisiliogogogoch!! xx (ps Spellchecker didn't like that word!)

Now I'm a manic rambler pondering both but my mouth is telling me tortuss - not a snob but that was the fella I had as a kid - and it ran away - really. My tortuss legged it.. he was called Herbie.

Turtle :)

No, I am a "tortuss" as well. The first time I hear Tor-toyiss I had no idea what was it was until I envisioned the letters in my head and "translated"

And don't even go there with the whole suspenders v braces or erasers v rubbers.

I say - is that Sir Tim peeking thru the leaves?

I wondered what had happened to you today. Now I see you needed to be linked. I say "tortuss" here in the states. Not sure I've heard it any other way. However, you are allowed to waffle, because I've learned that doesn't mean pancakes with indentations (grin). Happy WoYWW,

You make me laugh! I live in Africa and English is my second language, so I have no clue what the right way would be. In Afrikaans its easy, no matter the size, its a 'skilpad'.
Happy very belated WOYWW
