Sunday Stamper - Week 153 - The Star Spangled Banner

Goodly Morning Stampers... and howdy-doody indeedily! Today is my very last day in the USA (sad face) it has been a fabulous adventure and I have loved every minute of it... more of that a bit later though. Today, in honour of my lovely American hosts Ellen and Jack, I have chosen a patriotic song to tie in with the Sunday Stamper theme... which is... STARS &/OR STRIPES. To join in with the challenge is simples... make a little something - it can be anything you feel like. Add in the theme and some stamping... then leave me a comment here with a link to the place you are showing your entry. I will then hop on over to visit and have a nosey. The challenge will remain open until 21:00 Saturday May 15th 2011. I have been a bit lax in visiting everyone this past couple of weeks... I have been somewhat distracted but I think I am right up to date now and I should have visited all the lovely entries.

So... my entry this week is a handpainted sign which I made to look like an American flag. The base is a piece of wooden, I drew wavy lines on and a section for the stars... then set about painting it... the in-betweeny lines are (of course) Traditional Tan... then I used Cranberry Dabber for the other stripes... and Denim Dabber for the blue bit. I used a bit of Sable Brown paint to add thin line in between the colours so it looked a bit distressed.

The stars are stamped on using one of the fab Tim Holtz stamps and I cut out the sentiment using the new Typewriter Alpha Alterations... borrowed from Ellen and now on my wishlist! The star was bought in Michael's (ooh get me!) and stuck onto the board... after about 392 years of cursing because it didn't want to stick! The hangy bit is some twine that has wire in it... nabbed from Ellen's stash lol

So... I haven't had chance to blog the last few days... it has been horrendous here... basically, I have been forced to go to craft stores like Michael's, AC Moore, The Queen's Ink and to antique markets.. where I found THE typewriter I have always covetted... sad thing is it weighs a tonne so I had to leave it there. Oh and as well as all this enforced shopping I have also been subjected to being force fed Cheeto's, Lasagna, Grilled Cheese, Crab Cakes (they made me itch but they were so worth it!)... not to mention lots of other delish goodies... oh and chocolate too... like I have suffered!!! (mmm, believe that you will believe 'owt) Anyways... tis my last day today, I am flying home this evening... wish me luck with the suitcase packing job I am putting off at the moment... I am borrowing an extra case already.. erm... lots of Cheesy Chester Cheeto's are coming home with me lol Right... next time I blog I will be in the UK... thanks for looking... and for sharing my amazing adventure! TTFN!!

Hels x

Sorry Ellen, but you can't keep her - she needs to come back to us to run some workshops at Wendy's to teach us some of those fabby techniques she's learnt!!!!
And if she stayed with you she'd end up with permanent cheeto orange fingers!!!!
Safe journey home, Hels.
