Simon Says... Distress It...

...tis a cool challenge at Simon Says Stamp & Show... and HERE are all the deets for this weeks theme which is Distressing. Well, that was like dangling a carrot in front me... distressing is what I lurve to do! So, I made a tag for my entry this week... Here is the finished version:

And here is the inkyness on the base before I added stamping and bits and bobs. So, until a few weeks ago I had lived without Ranger Colorwash Sprays... and then, hurrah and thrice, my life was changed... why didn't I get these before huh? I love them... on this tag I used some of Claudine's Traditional Tan paint (would I ever use anything else lol) and used a spatula to spread it randomly onto the tag base, dried with a heat gun and then used Vintage Photo Stains to colour the tag.... you can see where the paint is... gives a fab creamy texture underneath those stains... and the reason why I took this pic is that I never seem to the able to get my pics to show all the little details...

I spritzed a bit of Butterscotch and Espresso Colorwashes onto the craft sheet, added a little spritz of water and then dipped the tag into it, drying, dipping... the usual :O)) I then distressed the edges with an Edge Distresser and ran some Walnut Stain Stains around the edges to close the design in a bit... Stamping came next... namely a script (which is my FAVE script stamp ever) from the Duke of Distress' Letters to Santa set... and then added the long wordy stamp from Stuff to Say. The ornate frame is cut using the Tag & Frame Alterations, cut from Bronzed God metal and scootched and then distressed with paint... and the word DREAM added on an extra bit of cardstock. There is a little Idea-ology Tassell hanging from the frame too... cute!

Finally, the flower was cut from Glassine... painted lightly with Trad Tan and Stained with Vintage Photo.. crumpled and then a FAB bottle cap added to the middle... the Idea-ology Trim was coloured with more Stains and voila! Finished :O)

So... I have a little announcement... last Sunday the Sunday Stamper was sponsored by The Artistic Stamper and I have added all the comments into Mr Random.Org and he chose #36 - which tallies with the entry from SUE WEST. Many many thanks for all your lovely entries and to Jennie for kindly sponsoring the challenge. Please do call back tomorrow for the new challenge theme... it is a very special day here on Ink On My Fingers.... I am busting a gut trying not to say anything now... but... I really want to give you a hint.....ooooh, go on then... let's just say... I have been talking a lot recently....

Right... I had better get a move on... I have a lovely Sunday Stamper project to make... I have been planning this one for a while now and have been collecting all the right things to go into it... ooooh, nearly slipped up then... I don't want to say toooo much... you know what a blabbermouth I am!!! Thanks for looking... have a fabby sunny Saturday! TTFN

Gorgeous, oh yes, I love this with the gorgeous glassine flower. I am so glad you showed the before and explained the tan paint. I read that you have used it before, but I had no idea why.

What a lovely tag. Just wondering what you would do if they ever stopped making traditional tan? Apart from having a mental breakdown that is!

This is really wonderful. Love the effect of the color wash spray - thanks for thinking of taking a pic before it got covered up (I always have that problem too!). That flower made from the glassine paper awesome. Great take on the distress challenge. So happy you joined in the fun with us this week at Simon Says Stamp and Show.
