Sunday Stampers - Week 130 - Like A Butterfly

Morning Stampers and a very goodly day to you all... many thanks for the gorgeous entries last week, there were so many jolly Santa's out there... I didn't realise that there were that many stamps to choose from :O)) This week is an easy peasy (blimey, how old am I???) theme which is... from a song from my childhood by Mac & Katie Kissoon... BUTTERFLIES. As usual with the Sunday Stamper, all you need to do to join in is make anything - a card, ATC, tag, hanging art... tis up to you! Include the theme and some stamping and then once you have blogged it, leave a comment for me here and I will be able to hop on over to see you :O)) The challenge will remain open until 21:00 Saturday 27th November `10.

For my entry this week I have altered a 5" x 7" canvas, adding lots of texture to it using Viva Terra and then painting it with acrylic paints. I know I have said this before but... I loooove that Terra stuff... if you apply it sparingly it goes all warty when you heat dry it... loving that look!

The butterflies are made from an Artistic Stamper stamp with Grungepaper, Claudine's Canvas which was stuck onto metal and coloured with paint and the new Clearly for Art from Wendy Vecchi - WOW!! I have a new fave stash item! This stuff is FAB - stamping on it is easier than I thought, I thought the stamp would squish about but it didn't, I stamped using StaZon and then cut out the butterflies, I overstamped with a background stamp and then popped a thin layer of Gold Dabber onto the back of the butterflies. Once this had dried off, I used a HeatGun and gently heated the butterfly - then once it started to move about, I curled the wings with my fingers. I made some ickle bodies for the butterflies with some beads and wire and then stuck them in a swathe up the canvas...

So... does anyone know the collective name for butterflies? I think a swathe of butterflies sounds nice... or a flutter of butterflies... I shall have to go and ask Mr Google if he knows :O))

A quick update on the state of the Room of Trash... well, I spent some more time yesterday tidying away and had a bit of a sort out too... and I am happy to announce that the room is erm... still not finished!!! Well, I had to break off to make the Sunday Stamper... and watch X Factor (nuff said about that) and then I had to watch I'm A Celeb... blimey, that Gillian can't do anything can she? Can't walk, can't move, can't do it in general... but she could pull her top down when she had fainted... miraculous ROFL Anyways... enough of my waffling... thanks for looking... have a fabby day! TTFN

Hels x

Oooo, ooooo, I have just been to ask Mr Google what the collective name for Butterflies is... I am in lurve with this... it is... a Kaleidoscope of Butterflies... how perfect!!!!

Hels, this is absolutely fabulous! I really think you've excelled yourself this time!

Talking of making butterflies, you might be interested in the Butterfly Effect project - to get people to make 1.5 million butterflies in memory of the children who died in the Holocaust - here's the link if you're interested in following this up:

I love your Art!!

Hi Hels

Your butterfly creation is really fabulous! If I have the time I would love to join this - but right now we are busy with Thanksgiving!

By the way, I love your WOYWW "Room Of Stash" or "Room of Trash" post. I might have to adopt those names for the future! Better yet - you should have Nicky design some badges with those themes! We can all relate to those I'm sure (I'll let you guess what mine is looking like at the moment!)

Have a wonderful week!

Hels, what a beautiful kaleidoscope of butterflies you have created! I love the color scheme and textural nature of the canvas as well as the butterflies. I too think Wendy's Clearly for Art is so much fun to play with.

Hi Hels.
I love the colours you have used here and the butterflies are gorgeous.
I meant to say ages ago how much I loved your project in the December Craft Stamper. Three beautiful things...made me want to have ago!!

I keep missing your challenge, I don't know why, time goes so quickly, I think I have still got time and then before I know it I have missed it but I will keep trying.
Have a great week

Love your "swarm" of butterflies! I have the clearly stuff in my stash but I have not used it yet... Hopefully this will be in inspiration for me to move from hoarding to using!!!

This is a fabulous piece of art and I haven't a clue about most of the processes you used, I think I should come to some of your classes.
A popular collective noun (according to Mr Google)for butterflies is rabble... now where on earth does that come from?!!!
Yours are gorgeous... I really should try your challenge.

I have just read your collective noun for butterflies. Fab! Can't spell the word though but I can read it LOL.
As you know I have a Springer Spaniel and I made up my own collective noun for Spaniels...
A Spangle of Spaniels.
