Sunday Stampers - Week 87 - Happy Birthday...To...

...The Sunday Stamper! Today we are two years old! I can't believe that it has been going for so long...indeed, it only started out for a few weeks...and now, 2 years on we are still going strong *that rhymed...perhaps there is a poet in me LOL* To honour our second birthday, I have a special Sponsor for the challenge today...namely, Jennie from The Artistic Stamper, who has very kindly donated some heavenly Mabel Lucie Attwell stamps and Kling On to go with them...all you need to do to be in with a chance to win the goodies is join in with the challenge...make something, include some stamping and the theme and then leave me a comment here with a link to the place you are showing your art. The winner will be chosen at random and announced next Sunday and this challenge will run until Saturday 23rd January. Thanks to all who joined in with the rather strange theme last week...this week the theme is Birthday's...which is a doddle for everyone so come on and join in and make some ART :O))

I used a Mabel Lucie Attwell stamp for my project this week... I altered a box that has been lounging about for yonks, waiting for the right time to be played with...starting by painting the outsides with Traditional Tan paint *why use any other when this is perfect!!* and then streaking some Sable Brown and Painterly Pink paints over with a bit of Cut & Dry foam.

Once the paint had dried, I stamped Mabel onto some tissue paper and then used Beeswax to make a collage onto the lid of the box, using a variety of background stamps and a birthday sentiment. Then...you will never guess what happened!!!! I had finished with the Beeswax and was moving the now cooling down Melt Pot onto the other desk...when the wire got caught around my chair castor...and the Melt Pot tipped up into my lap!!!! After my story yesterday I just couldn't believe it had happened again...this time on a mammoth scale..to the point that my tshirt was covered, as was the whole of my left leg from hip to slipper...thank heavens the wax was starting to cool...but it is stuck like you know what to a blanket and I fear my crafting trousers are going to be sent to the great trouser heaven in the sky...along with my tshirt, which has annoyed me cos it was really comfy and warm and one of my faves!!!! I was seriously thinking of giving up with the Melt Pot...but...

I had to reheat it again to carry on with the rest of the project....this time using clear UTEE to make some Faux Porcelain flowers, as detailed HERE on Jennie's blog....I used Stitchels Shabby's and just plonked them into the UTEE, wiggled them about a bit and then drained off the excess before sticking a badge pin on the back...so they are brooches as well as embellies!

Here are a few pics of the stamps which are up for grabs...and the list is as follows:

6 Mabel Lucie Attwell Unmounted stamps
1 Sheet of Kling On Repositionable Cushioning

AND

A little something from me...namely the box I made for today...and lost my trousers for...think of the agony I will have to go thru when I finally put them into the rubbish...they are my fave crafting joggies, comfy, tatty and covered in Gesso already...*sighs for sympathy* LOL

Thanks for looking...and don't forget, to be in with a chance of winning the Candy, just join in with the challenge and leave a link here for me....have a great week...AND...THANK YOU to everyone who has joined in with the Sunday Stamper since Jan 08...I have made a load of blogging friends and found so much inspiration along the way!

Hels x

PS...If you get chance, please pop over to the Gingersnap Blog today...I have a Resist Technique Tutorial on there and would love to hear what you think...is it useful and do you likey???? :O))

You'd best move on to another media!!!! I was terrible with the melt pot....and dangerous with the cords and heat tool and clover iron. My husband was glad when I went back to just running with scissors!!!!!

Oh poop, poor you, just as you get some clothes comfy you go and ruin them! (I am very glad the contents were not scolding hot or it wouldn't just be your clothes that were ruined)! My fav clothes are the ones I decorate in... and yes, they show every colour scheme I have used in the last decade... but they are like a scrap album... they tell a story with all the paint smears and tears and snags. Love your birthday tin... in fact love the previous project too... just gorgeous!!

OOOH DEAR! That is precisely t5he sort of thing I would do, and I hope you are ok, wax can be hot! Love the box ,and hopefully Lynn will help you save your precious crafting clothes:)
Hugs to you xx

omg thats it you've put me off beeswax, because I'm clumsy at the best of times let alone having hot stuff near me think I'll stick to glue but I get in a mess with that as well.....the pains of crafting

OMG this is the cutest.
Really darling work. This is awesome.

Have a great sunday my dear.

Oh I must be a masochist cos I went straight to look for beeswax ... Where is the best place to buy. I had a little play a while back but no idea where I bought it

Went over to look at your Tutorial and it is so clear and helpful, but most of all, the finished projects are stunning! When the projects are so good, it encourages people to try the techniques IMHO. Did laugh at you giving people health and safety warnings though!!

Hels! I know you have lost your crafty outfit but you made me laugh! I was in my craft room last weekend and was sitting on my computer chair, you know what it's like you need something but you don't want to get up. I lent over to hang a ribbon bay up and fell off the chair!! I have some nice cuts where I hit the side of the table!! Anyway, I love your artwork the box is stunning as always. xxxxxxxxxxx

Happy Birthday, Sunday stampers!!
Oh dear, sorry to hear the tale of the melt pot (just when I was thinking I might try and make friends with mine again) - I remember some while ago managing to burn my fingers with UTEE - ouch, blisters. x

Your box is fantastic, but you're not having much luck with the melt pot, are you?! I have entered the challenge, it can be found here:

Crikey, I thought I was having a bad day when I kicked a bucket of water all over the floor! Glad to hear the wax had started to cool and you didn't burn yourself.

Lovely box. Now, I'm just about to warm up the melt pot but is it a good idea.....

I've made a birthday card for my dad, you can see it here

Beautiful box but you're lucky it was just your clothes that came off badly!

Hope I'll get chance to join in this week but thought I'd share anyway:

"Whatever may happen don't complain, just pick up the bits and start again"
- My nan sent me a Mabel Lucie Attwell postcard (picture of a girl with a dropped tray of china) with that sentiment to me when I was 3 years old and only months before she died: Wise words to pass on and the card is one of my most treasured things

I too have lovely memories of Mabel Lucie Attwell from my Nanna..
My effort for this week is on my blog, incorporated some ideas from your tutorial as well although the photo isn't that great and doesn't really show it up, but it looks good LOL (well it looks resisted!)

Oh, my, where to start?? 1) The box is beautiful - love the gorgeous little flower brooches, what a fantastic idea!! 2) Congrats on the SS birthday - two years of fabulous inspiration! 3) Your tutorial on GC was great... thanks for all the warnings that you yourself don't heed (tee hee JK!) 4) Am I going to have to fly "across the pond" and rescue you from your hot wax??? and finally 5) try sticking the trousers in the freezer for a while, and see if you can chip the wax right off. Oops, one more thing... take care of yourself, ya hear???

oh dear Hels, glad I don't own a Melt pot as I would be forever having disasters like that. Hope you find some replacement crafting troosers that are just as comfy. Love your box, might try to join in again this week- imagine, 2 weeks in a row...don't faint! I love those flowers
Hope today is disaster free

Woo Hoo I can not believe that the SS is 2 years old, my apologies for not joining in as much as I should but crafting and I have had a fall out, I am sure we will make friends again in the future, well Hels your Birthday Box a beautiful piece and a treasure for your winner along with those adorable stamps, I think that melt pot of yours best be put away before you do some serious damage, take care my friend xx

Oh I love this - those flowers are gorgeous

Thanks for all those tutes over on Gingersnaps - never tried any of them before - but am really tempted now

How do you keep your nails to clean and white doing all those techniques - my hands and fingers take days to get all the ink out of them, and I have given up wearing nail polish for the same reason!

Have hopped here from Nicks blog and hope my recent addition to my blog fits the bill. Not sure how to link so heres my blog addy http://thisandthatwithclarkyj.blogspot.com/
