The Beeswax Experiment...

...Aha! Not a single drop of Beeswax on my clothes this time...I was ultra careful LOL I have been fiddling about with tissue paper and some Studio 490 stamps today...and wondered if Grungepaper would look any good if it had Beeswax painted onto it...so I had a go...I mean, all I had to lose was a bit of Grungepaper and I do like a good experiment :O))

This little canvas is 4" square...my fave size to work on, not too big, not too small and it hasn't got deep edges...which for some reason I have developed an aversion to! I started off by painting the canvas with Traditional Tan paint...and then I used some tissue paper, stamped with Wendy Vecchi's amazing background stamps, and then popped them onto the canvas with Beeswax...I reckon I am getting a dab hand at this stuff...considering I was frightened stupid of the stuff until a few months ago!!

I made a little sentiment piece using a cut of mountboard, painted with Traditional Tan (what else?) and then stamped the sentiment onto tissue and beeswaxed it over the top. I popped this into a Memory Frame and added some Idea-ology bits to the loop at the bottom...and then set about the "experiment" *dah, dah, daaaaaah* After stamping a flower and Distress Inking some Grungepaper I dabbed the tips of the flower with Beeswax...so far so good...and...get this...it actually helps to keep the curls curled, if you know what I mean...it strengthens them, so to speak... to the point that I later added Rock Candy Stickles and the curls stayed put...usually they tend to flatten out again.

Getting ever bolder, I then made a Grungepaper rose...and before I assembled the layers I dipped them into the Melt Pot of Beeswax...and I am rather chuffed with the look...kind of shabby and distressy but not too glossy. I added some Rock Candy Stickles over the top of the Beeswax to match with the flower and leaves....and then..to finish the canvas off I added a strip of Sticky Back canvas to separate the two patterns and popped some Film Strip over the top...that was a right beggar to stick as well...I ended up using Super Glue..and...I am proud to annouce that none of my fingers are stuck together...nor are they stuck to anything else!! I must be getting less clumsy in my old age ROFL Look at those heavenly Trinket Pins behind the rose...they are by Maya Road...and I think they are FAB!

Thanks for looking...I would love to hear what you think of the Beeswax on Grungepaper...do you like the look? Is it a bit too grungey? Is it a bit yukky...or do you love it?

Hels x
