Sunday Stampers - Week 49 - What's New PussyCat?

Good Morning Stampers,

Thank you to those of you who joined in with the challenge last week, the interpretations of the theme were all brilliant and I loved visiting your Blogs to see your beautiful artwork.

Today is March 1st, which means that it is St. David's Day, the Patron Saint of Wales. My Grandma was Welsh and I always make sure that I wear the Leek brooch that she left for me and I have the daffodils in the house too. As it is a special Welsh day, I decided to use a song title from one of Wales' most brilliant singers, Tom Jones. I had so many titles to choose from but I could't resist this one as I have just bought one of the fabby new stamps from Crafty Individuals which features the cutest kitty :O)) So, if you haven't guessed yet....LOL....the theme this week is Cats. I know we have had this one before but it was a different title and it was ages ago too :O))

I used a piece of mountboard which I had smudged some Gesso onto using a little palette knife. Once the Gesso had dried, I blended Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick onto the mountboard. I used my heatgun to dry the ink on the Gesso otherwise it just sits there and smudges off as the Gesso is not absorbent.

I used the heavenly "La Poupee" stamp from Crafty Individuals - apparently, La Poopee means The Doll - or so I am led to believe! My translations skills are sadly lacking.

I used a Basic Grey RubOn for the sentiment and then did a little bit of stamping around the border of the piece, using Aged Mahogany Distress Ink and Tim Holtz Collection stamps. I used Distress Embossing Powder to cover some of the edge stamping, the colour being Scattered Straw.

I altered some Grungeboard shapes from the Nature pack, colouring with Distress Inks and then covering with Distress Stickles. I punched holes into the top of the piece, threaded a piece of ribbon and a piece of teensy ric-rac through some beads and then fastened them to the top.

The final touch is the beaded ribbon fringing at the bottom, I seem to have got a little bit addicted to adding beaded ribbons to these hanging pieces I am making, I just love the extra bit of bling and swing :O))

The Distress products and Grungeboard came from The Artistic Stamper, the beaded fringe from my stash and the ribbons from Ribbon Mad.

As ever, if you would like to join in with the challenge, please use stamping in your artwork, leave a post here for me including a link to the place you are showing your entry and then I can come and have a nosey.

Thanks for looking, hope you like the theme this week and have fun getting inky and messy.

Hugs Hels x

Love the way you've used that image and, even though I'm far from being a cat lover, I must admit, it's cute :)

I've already posted this one but it fits your challenge, too, so hope that's okay!
