The Sunday Stampers - Week 11 - A Ticket To Ride

Hello friends,

Are you all singing A Ticket To Ride now then? I am determined to make you all sing LOL :O))

This week I have chosen the theme....you have probably guessed from the title that the theme is "Travel/Journey/Transport"

Basically, you can use any kind of stamp that features a mode of transport in or on which you could make a journey! This could be a train, car, hot air balloon, flying, sailing, biking or even rollerskating!!

I have made not one but two cards for this challenge! Needless to say, I have had a day off so I have been able to play :O))

"Chuffing" Journey

I love this stamp! I got it last year at the NEC and think it is by Stamps Away...I didn't keep the packet it was in though...whoops! I stamped the image using black Versafine and then I masked the image. I used Goss Boss clear ink to make "steam" and clear embossed this. Using the "resist" technique, I used Adirondack Stonewashed and a piece of Cut & Dry foam to make a sky and used Frayed Burlap Distress ink to make the ground. I lifted off the mask and then painted in the engine using Fired Brick Distress ink and a waterbrush. I added black Distress Ink to the wheels and lines and used an Ultra fine metallic marker to add the golden bits....Matted onto black cardstock and then a small piece of Basic Grey Sublime paper and then attached to the main card. The Journey description is from Catslife Press and I inked the cardstock to match the main piece, matted as before and attached to the main card.

Clapped Out Old Banger

No! I am not describing myself!! This card was made using a new technique I have recently been shown....and I am so "chuffed" that I have been able to do it! Am still so new to stamping and love learning new techniques :O))

I started off by stamping the Vintage Car using Black Versafine ink. I then masked the car and used Cut & Dry foam to apply Tea Dye Distress Ink all over the cardstock. I then inked up the Paris Map using Walnut Stain and stamped this over the top, making sure the mask was still in place. I then got a little dangerous and used my lighter to burn the edges of the cardstock and then once they were as I wanted them, I used more Cut & Dry to smudge Walnut Stain around the edges. The reason for me using the lighter and not just tearing the card is that I can never get the torn bits to go in and out as I would like and cast my memory back to my school days when I had to make an old map for a History project....my dear old Gran helped me and used her lighter to make burn marks on it! Next, I matted this onto brown Bazzill. I then set to making the sentiment mat. First of all, I stamped the sentiment in Black Versafine ink. I used Tea Dye again to colour the cardstock, stamped the Map stamp again and then matted this onto the same colour Bazzill. After attaching the mats to the main cardstock with DS Tape, I decided the card was a bit boring, so I added the fancy ribbon to the top but as I wanted it to be masculine, I just tied a knot instead of a bow. I added a little snap to secure the ribbon and then edged the whole card with Gold Krylon. Finally, I touched up the windows with Glossy Accents and then left it alone cos I knew I was going to over do it and spoil it :O)) Oh, nearly forgot, the stamps are all from the Tim Holtz Collection.

Hope that you all have lots of fun with this challenge. Remember to leave a message on this post with a link to the place you are showing your work of art..then everyone can visit you and see your creations.

Thanks for joining in :O))
