Altered Pen Tidy

Yes, I have been getting even inkier and messier this morning and have altered a little pen tidy that I bought in Staples. I have done some "before" and "after" photo's....and here they are!

Before

Here you can see one side and the bottom of the pen tidy....just plain buff coloured cardboard....ripe for altering :o))

After

I decided to use my "Avenue" by Crate Paper as these papers are so versatile and look smashing however they are used. Firstly, I took Dusty Concord Distress inks and using a piece of Cut & Dry foam, smudged the ink all over the sides. I used a water spritzer to get a mottled effect on the surfaces. I then roughly tore some of the papers and stuck them to the bottom corners of each side.

I decided that I haven't used my Brush Butterfly stamp (by Penny Black) for a few days, so inked up the whole of the butterfly with the Dusty Concord ink, dabbed Black Distress ink around the edges of the wings and into the body, sprizted with water to get a nice smudgy look and then stamped onto a piece of ivory card. Once the wings had dried, I cut the butterfly out, stuck it to the sides and then added Bindi's for the body of two and a few aurora borealis gems to the others.

I used Tim Holtz Collection and Penny Black sentiment stamps, which I stamped onto more ivory card which I had coloured with the Dusty Concord and edged with Black Distress Ink. Then I stamped a few random images onto the inked part of the sides, for this, I used Tim Holtz and Penny Black stamps. Once I had stuck the sentiment mats onto the sides, I edged all of the pen tidy with a Silver Acrylic Dabber.

I am well chuffed with the over all effect....and for a few £ that it cost to buy the pen tidy, it has given me a few ideas for presents for Christmas!

Thank you for looking at my altered stuff...now I am off to try and get all this ink off my fingers...and hands...and tee shirts!! :O))

Cheers...Hels x
