This Is Not Art - Bind It All Book
Hello Peeps,
Blimey, I have been away for ages!! I have been a bit busy with visitors and getting back to work, so haven't had much time to play or Blog. However, I did have time last weekend to make a book for the Paper Dolls so I thought I would pop it here for you to look at and then tell me what you think :O))
I used those delish Rustic Gem papers, by Diane's Daughters, as the base of each page of the book, distressing the edges and generally getting inky and messy in order to make a book that features various stamping techniques and some heaven embellies from the Idea-ology Range by Tim Holtz, which I picked up at The Artistic Stamper. I used stamps by Stampers Anon (Tim Holtz ranges) along with stamps by Lost Coast Designs, Queens' Dresser Drawers and Catslife Press, which you can buy from Scrapz.
I was on a little Google journey a couple of weeks ago and I found a great little store that sells a really fab selection of charms. The are called My Vintage Charms and if you click on the name, you will be able to go direct to the shop to have a peek at them all.....and I better advise you that you will need at least an hour spare, there are soooo many!!! :O))
Anyway, back to the book. :O)) I won't bore you with all the details of how I made it, I am going to add the piccies and make a comment or two....I am on limited time and I bet you are too!! LOL
The front cover was made using a Chipboard Book Plate from The Artistic Stamper, which I covered with the papers and then distressed with an emery board. I added a little handle from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology range, also from The Artistic Stamper.
A couple of pages which have had the main images masked and then overstamped. The dotty background is a great stamp to use to add depth to the project - it is from Invoke Arts. The border stamp on the page below is from Crafty Individuals.
I cut the corner off this page to add a little variation to the book; the number 5 is from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology range. It started off as a silver colour, so I covered it with gold Krylon and then quickly sprinkled Walnut Stain Distress Embossing Powder over the top. The powder stuck to the places where the Krylon was still wet. Once I had heated the powder, **after running my burnt finger under the cold tap to cool it down, I rubbed the melted powder to remove the release crystals, I ended up with a really aged and rusty looking number. **memo to self, when heating metal, wait til is has cooled down before touching!!!
This page features a little envelope that I cut using my QuicKutz Revolution. I used co-ordinating papers to make the envelope and the card and just decorated with various stamps.

The next couple of pages are thinner than the main set in the book. Again, this is to add something different to the overall look of it. I used Tim Holtz stamps by Stampers Anon and added Glossy Accents and a little metal disc, so cute, which is another of the Idea-ology range and a little Game Spinner which I have popped in the middle of the watch (can you see how much I lurve those new embellies, I keep on about them!!!)

Aw, this little fella is one of my fave stamps at the moment; I simply stamped him twice and then cut out the wings and decoupaged them over the bottom image....I added Glossy Accents to ...er....accent the wings :o))
Another page with the corner cut off, this time I just stamped all over the background and added a lovely clock image which is actually a Dali clock and the stamp is by Cherry Pie Arte stamps. Adding the little game spinner to the centre of the melting clock added a little extra but looked a bit daft, so I bent the top of the spinner so it looked like it is melting too!
Whoops, an attack of the dodgy photographer happened with this page, it is a shame as you can't really see the little charm of the Eiffel Tower....however, this is one from My Vintage Charms so you could always have a little look yourselves :O)) The wax seal is by 7Gypsies and the corner image has been Distress Embossed to add texture.
I used the papers to make a File Tab to attach to this page. I added a few stamped images to the outside, loving the little word stamp....makes me laugh out loud! The inside has been stamped and distressed and then I attached the File Tab to the page and added a little Photo Turn for a closure.

Phew!! The last page....The little scratches are gold embossed to make them a bit fancier and then I added Glossy Accents to the car to emphasize the windows etc. The little metal embellie....yep, you guessed it...it is a Sprocket from the Idea-ology range :O))
Well, that is it for the time being.....again, sorry for not being about for a while, I will try to be a better Blogger in future!!
Oh, almost forgot to mention that the Pocket Challenge will be back on Wednesday with a brand new theme and the Sunday Stampers is back from the summer jollies and will be back on Sept 7th....so I hope to see you all then.
Thanks for looking and I would love to see your comments about this book, it is such a long time since I last made anything like this!!

Rock 'n Roll, Man!
Hello,
I have been itching to Blog this tag I made but I have had to be patient and wait until the main component is actually available to buy as it is soooo new!!
So, what is this new thing I am on about? Well, it is Black Chipboard but with a difference. This is thick, about 2mm, and it has a paler core and backing so it is perfect for distressing. I have used a tag for this project but there are other shapes available; flowers, wings, book covers and smaller tags too.
So, where can you get your hands on this fabbbby new stuff? Here!! The website is in the process of being updated so if you cannot see it on there yet, it will be soon.
I started out by clear stamping and embossing the skull image. *yes this is a firm fave of mine at the moment!! Next, I stamped the birds using Snowcap Dabber and then clear embossed this too. I then dragged Pink Sherbert Dabber all over the tag, then used Raspberry to add accent colour and then wiped off the paint from the images. I used sandpaper to distress the edges of the tag and ran a gold Krylon around the edges to add a little extra dimension to the tag. Finally, I stamped the words using Alpha's from Stamps Away, added ribbons to the hole at the top and then tied a skull charm (which started out as silver and was transformed with my gold Krylon) on gold thread to the top of the tag.
I love this new product and it is really lovely to work onto as it has a nice smooth surface.
Thanks for looking
