He's Got The Look....

...He, being that divine David stamp from the new Tim Holtz collection...you know the one...the one that I said that I would NEVER be able to use and didn't really like...until I saw inspiring art by Linda and Dan...and then had to go and get it myself...so thank you to both...I loooove it loads now :O))

The beauty of this stamp (IMO) is that it is a socking great big one...and fits snuggly onto a tag...it has a wide open space on his face, ripe for masking and adding other images over the top...please pop over and see Linda AND Dan's blog...links on their names to see what they have been doing...utterly inspiring and wonderfully creative...*blimey, I sound a bit gushy there but it is TRUE!* I started by stamping David straight onto the tag and then masking his face to make a background, using the large diamond stamp from TH. I then cut the mask down and stamped the alphabet onto his cheeks, colouring in his hair and face and eye...I did his eye green, it is my favourite eye colour...so striking, so I added Glossy Accents over the top to give him a twinkle...Grim has the most divine green eyes...one of the very first things I noticed about him...I even tried wearing green contacts for a while...but cos my eyes are so dark they just looked like mucky puddles LOL

I added some German Scrap to make a bit of a border...and then made a little saying using StudioG alpha's...deep and meaningful? What would he think of the world today? A huge place that is now tiny due to the power of the internet and those big aeroplanes that whizz us about the globe? Or would he see the bad things...like war and poverty? Who knows...I would like to think that he would be impressed with the advances in technology, like what I am...which means that someone from the otherside of the world could just be sitting here reading my wafflings and looking at stuff I made...all in the blink of an eye!

Enough of the deep and meaningfuls...on a lighter note, here is my desk today...for Julia's WOYWW - which if you haven't seen before, you have to go and have a gander at some of the desks peeps show...I was told off last week cos my desk was too neat...so I have left it messier than normal, literally breaking my promise to myself to tidy away after each crafty session...and it is bugging me now so I shall bid you adieu and scarper off to the Room of Stash to put stuff away (yes, I really am that good...ROFL ;O)))

Thanks for looking...have a great day!

Hels x

I absolutely love the colour pallete you've used on this - it has a very weather-worn, sun-faded look to it, which is fantastic! :)

Great tag! I think I may have caught the David bug - I saw both Linda and Dan do some great stuff and now you're joining in... The quote is great.
How do you get that info into the pics you post?

Heidi said...

I agree, at first glance I would not get the stamp either so I am off to check out Dan and the other site to see if it is a mUST!

As for your workspace, it looks so organized. I finally photo'd mine with actual work on it- imagine that! lOL

I've never seen that stamp before but I can see it has potential to become a favourite if you can make great tags like yours with it!
If that is an untidy desk, I need help!

Hels -

Love what you've done with this tag. Michelangelo's David is one of my favorite statues. I saw it in Florence years ago and it was just unbelieveable, a masterpiece! You have done it justice.

uber fab tag - I love it!

I have to keep things tidy, too - if it's too chaotic I am totally incapable of creative thought!

Hels-Bells!

This is reeeeally good! Love the caption you used & that stamp is very eye-catching because it is so different!

You know what, girl? I would love to see you do a video tutorial on how you make these! Yes, I would! You may need to take one of your favorites you've already done, then create it over, step-by-step so I can see you work your magic!

I am entranced by how you do the inking, layering and everything looks so clear {not muddy like mine would be}. And I have a feeling you'd be entertaining to watch!

Yes, I picture your own series on HGCA {Home & Garden Craft Addicts}! ;) LOL!

Hey! In your spare time!

Hels - I'm with you in the fact that i didn't 'get' the tag - what was the point. However, the more I see the more I like - and i've already seen the magic Linda does with her tags and in particular the David one. I'd like a go at doing tags, do you just buy plain old parcel/luggage tags?

Anyway love your workspace - looks tidy considering. And lots of lovely stamps by the look of it.

Lovely tag Hels, and nope, I have learned (the hard way) that there is no point me going out and buying David... cos he will never look anything like yours and Dan's and Linda's... rather like the time I went out and bought heaps of those Tim inks... some of which have never seen the light of day as they all turn out like mud pies... I think I must lack patience or soemthing!! Oh and I am the same, have to do a quick tidy up before I can start something new!!
Here's a question of lady of many stamps and pads and things... do you clean your stamps? Do you clean them as you go along or leave them till the end and have a good wash up?
Oh and David would be impressed surely that I am half ways across the world and can type stuff to you in seconds!! (well, it would be seconds if the interwebs would just stay on for a wee bit longer...

Dear Hels,

Your post down at Julia's had me ROFL - I am so glad to be in the company of another intelligent woman (IQ of at LEAST 20, you SO crack me up!) who has yet to figure out the nice neat "link in the post thing" and does things the old-fashioned untidy way...

(For the record, I have yet to get those short-cut URLs on groups to work either!)

But I digress...

Love your tag (the stamp is new to me too!) and always enjoy peeking in on your workspace (although I was going to peek at it while I wrote and it disappeared on me so I'll have to go back afterwards for one final looksie!) But, great fun as always popping in to say hello!

Hugs

Great desk Helen I'm laughing that you labelled the photo "Helen's messy desk" with the date, is that incase anyone else claims your mess is theirs or incase you forget its your desk !! Lol
I always know my own mess its nearly always with worst no point in labeling mine no one in there right mind is gonna wanna pinch my mess !! Lol
See you next Wednesday
Love Susie xx
