Whole Lotta Rosie...

...I got a bit crafty today...first time since Christmas Eve...it feels soooo good to have disgustingly inky fingers again :o))

I used a Stitchels flower to make a metal rose...the design I used is the Dotty Dot large flower and I stamped it onto some Barn Red Ten Second Studio metal...then backed it with black card and refined the edges and the dots inside the design. I cut the flowers up and used some Super Glue to stick the layers altogether...mmm, I really shouldn't use that kinda glue, I have it stuck everywhere now LOL **anyone know how to get it out from under fingernails????**

The base for the project is a Maya Road bracket book page, which I cut across the top to make a flat edge for hanging...I used Traditional Tan paint (Claudine Hellmuth got it soooo right with this colour!) and once this way dry, splodged some Rock Candy Cracklepaint over the top. I spritzed it all with English Ivy Glimmer Mists...I wanted a patchy look, so I over spritzed with Walnut Gold Glimmer Mists.

The background stamping is from the marvelously wonderful Studio 490 range of stamps, divided with a row of diamonds (not real ones I hasten to add) and I used a Maya Road shape for the sentiment...which is also a Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 stamp too. The little bottle has some teensy beady chain in it...and I added some rusty wire to make the hanger and a rusty heart with some more of the beady chain wrapped on it to co-ordinate.

Thanks for looking...I am off to sit on the sofa and pig out on a huge Chinese takeaway...hey, it is still Christmas isn't it? So ... it is ok for me to pig out again...trouble is, my trousers will be too tight tomorrow night so I will have to go and loose 2 stone in a day...fancy my chances????

PS....'scuse the rubbish photography...again...the camera is on the blink and I haven't had time to faff in Photo Shop...please click on the pics for a better look...mind you, saying that, it would probably make them look worse ROFL

What Day Is It Again....

....It felt like another post Christmas/pre New Year "Groundhog" day to me....getting up late, watching the birds feeding...we have Goldfinches again this year...so lovely to sit and watch them...the hours just whizz past...I play Professor Layton on my DSi for a few hours (Christmas pressie), lounge on the sofa eating copious amounts of chocolate (more Christmas pressies) and left over turkey...not at the same time I hasten to add...and then...today...something different happens!

Then our Postie made a delivery...I have to say, it has been strange not getting any mail for four days ...Anyway.... this is what he brought to me today:

I am not usually one for shouting about achievements and such like....I always feel a bit daft and embarrassed whittering on about stuff like that...so I will keep it short...and say..... O! M! G!... that little piece of art I made a few months ago is only on the front cover of Craft Stamper magazine! I am sooooooooooo excited .... so much so that I needed to do a little jig! And, the other pieces I made are in the mag too! Here are a couple of snippets of the projects I did:

But....I am going to be a party pooper now and not tell you what it is about...all I will say is that I was honoured to be asked to make this tutorial and, quite literally, it has made my 2009 a whole lot better...It has been a year of big changes for me and some days I have just wanted to crawl back under the duvet and hide away...but...to actually be asked to contribute to such a great magazine and see my artwork in there amongst so many esteemed crafters has just made me grin like the Cheshire cat!

Anyways...I am off to read the rest of the mag now...it looks like a good one with some fab projects in it too :O))

'Twas The Night Before Christmas....

...and all through the house....yes folks! It is nearly Christmas and I have reverted to being an 8 year old...am soooooooo excited! **Grim has put my pressies under the tree and I am being ever so good...not even looking...let alone squeezing!!** So, the Night Before Christmas poem refers to a mouse...nothing stirring etc...which gave me a FAB excuse to use some of the old bits n bobs I bought in Covent Garden a few weeks ago...

I made a shadow box which is Christmas themed ... and isn't a card... so I am entering it for the Allsorts Challenge this week...which is...anything but a card! The shadow box is from The Range and does come with glass, which I didn't want to use so I now have a 6" square of my most hated thing...I hate glass...usually cos I end up slashing myself with it LOL I got the box as a pressie from Andrea...and... I am so happy cos I have three more to play with still!

I painted the whole frame with Traditional Tan paint (yes, my fave) and then once this had dried I covered it all with Rock Candy Cracklepaint. While I waited for this to dry, I started on the insidey bit.

I made a template of pieces of card, cut them, inked them with Antique Linen and then some were coloured with Peeled Paint and some with Fired Brick. The stamping is mainly from Tim Holtz images, using parts of bigger stamps as the features and then jazzing up with Distress Stickles. I coloured the box using Glimmer Mists which I kept on layering and drying and repeating until I got the right depth I wanted. The inside frame comes apart from the box, so I used a green Glimmer Mist on this to give some contrast.

The decorations around the box are made up from my junk collection and...the ickle birdy is a trinket box thingy which was a pressie from Dan...I UTEE'd it with gold embossing powder and then used an Artistic Stamper script stamp which was inked with Timber Brown StaZon and pressed into it. Did you notice the ickle Idea-ology rose? I got this idea from some bloke called T!m - apparently he did a load of tags a few weeks ago and I happened across his blog (ROFL)

Thanks for looking....and...HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you all....have a wonderful festive season ...
lotsa love

Hey Baby...What's Occuring?

...Is anyone else completely mad about Gavin & Stacey? I have actually started to talk with a Welsh accent...and say things like "tidy" and "what's occuring" and "owh, Grim"...Honestly, anyone would think I really was Welsh...well, actually, here is a little known fact... I am actually quarter Welsh, my dear Gran was from Wales...so that filters down doesn't it? And...another quarter of me is Irish...and ... the rest I will save for another day...don't want you falling asleep on me now!

So, the 'Hey Baby'...is a 3" Stampbord circle that I inked, stamped with a Crafty Individuals stamp called Snow Baby and then scratched at it...UTEE'd it and added some little gold specks of embossing powder in..and edged with Gold Krylon...so these colours are perfect as another entry for the Play Date Cafe's challenge this week. I used some Rusty Tin wire (which is lush..there I go again with Gavin and Stacey speak) which was a pressie from my mate Dan. I added a couple of snowflake charms which started out as silver and they have had the Gold Krylon treatment too!

The 'What's Occuring' part of the title is actually for WOYWW...which this week sees my desk looking even more messier than usual...now I have joined in once you can't stop me clicking away with the camera...showing off the messy nature that is Hels! There are some bits on my desk which will be transformed into something else later on...hopefully being able to finish it and blog later today...it is sooo cold in my Room of Stash tho..my fingers have iced up...I am going to be very bad and use an electric heater to try and warm it up in there...the radiator has been turned off because I have a stonking great unit infront of it...nowhere else to put it and it is full of stash I don't want ruining with heat.

So, that is my ramble for this morning...by jove it was FREEZING at 7am...minus 3 according to Ferdy's thermostat...and it seems we have freezing fog decending now too! TTFN....

Don't Stop Believing...

...One of my favouritest songs ever...and I was bowled over with Joe's performance of it on X Factor...so much so that I actually voted for him LOL Anyways, the Don't Stop Believing today is a reminder for the Sunday Stamper...which this week is "Believe" and...remember that there is some FAB candy on offer too! The theme runs until 2nd Jan and the winner will be announced of the 3rd January.

Today I am showing a couple of the 60 million Christmas cards I have had to make this year...actually, I exagerate slightly, it was more like 45 million but there you go :O)) Both of the cards have the word Believe on them and are just plain and simple ones...bit like me really! I used Distress Inks, Tim stamps, Hearts In Touch stamps and some mirri and Bazzill card along with a sled load of Picket Fence Stickles *see what I did there....sled load instead of shed load...cos Santa has a sled!!!*

Today has been a bit nightmarish with the weather...I know, us Brits talk about the weather constantly but I couldn't get out this morning and I needed to...just too scared to walk on snowy icy pavements and risk falling over and doing myself another injury! Hopefully we have seen the last of the snow for a while and whilst it is freeeeeezing out there, at least it will thaw out soon! Thanks for looking! Oh, and here is a piccie of the candy:

What a Smacker!

...Now, I have put that title but...does everyone know what I mean???? A "smacker" is a kiss for those of you who don't understand HelsSpeak LOL Here is February from the Calendar that I made using Tilda's for Andrea.

The papers are Basic Grey and the images are coloured using ProMarkers...a collection of Prima flowers and some paper roses to jazz it up a bit too. I used the Edwin and Tilda for February's page because of Valentines day...clever huh?

Blimey, you should see the snow here...it started at 4pm and it is still falling...it is soooo deep now! Hoping you are all keeping safe and warm. And..don't forget the Sunday Stamper and the massive blog candy giveaway...click here to see the post :O)) Have a good day!

Tilda Gets a Play Date

...Over at the Play Date Cafe there is a new theme for their challenge this week...to use blue, gold and cream. It just so happens that I made something over the past few weeks and a couple of the pieces of it incorporate these colours.

Now, this thing...it started off as a little project...a "Secret Santa" made gift for a friend...and over the days, then weeks and then months...it kind of grew, and then grew some more...until it was soooo big it was even bigger than the machine it was supposed to be bound in! What am I waffling on about???? Well, I made Andrea a Calendar for 2010...with a Tilda card layout for each month...thinking it would fit lovely into my Bind It All...ha! I then changed it and thought I could fit it into the BIA in two parts...nope! Still too fat...so I used ribbons for the binding

Anyways..this is the front cover and Miss January :O)) I know the gold is a bit tenuous as it is only the gold ribbons that feature...but ... they are gold LOL And, I hope these pics are accepted as my entry for the Cafe challenge.

Thanks for looking...please don't forget the Sunday Stamper this week and the Candy on offer...details on the post below this one.

Snappy Colours

...Today sees the start of a brand new Colour challenge over on the Gingersnap Blog...the colours are; Purple, Green and Gold. I made a tag using some of the techniques we learnt from Tim Holtz on the 12 Tags 09 journey :O)) The Flourish stamp has been done with gold dabber, and then Peeled Paint and Dusty Concord has been blended over the top.

The tree is made from Grungeboard...stamped, embossed with clear and then edged with the purple..and additional mini stars added for some more gold. I used a Dymo, rubbed with gold Krylon as my sentiment and added gold ribbons and a cute little golden tree for the decoration.

Thanks for looking...don't forget, everytime you enter into a Gingersnaps challenge this month there is a chance of winning some fab candy from Hearts In Touch.

A Tree, A Birdy and WOYWW

...Blimey, you know when you have one of those bright idea moments...and then several hours later reeeeally regret that you went with the idea in the first place?.... Well, that was me yesterday...I spent a lovely lovely day with Jennie...we had our "office party" and yes, I ate far too much...and then we did a wander around Faversham and I bought this heaven ickle birdy tree ornament...he is so much cuter in the real but remember folks, my photography is rubbish LOL

So...where did it all go wrong? Humph...there is a new High Speed link from St Pancras to Faversham...yipppeeee, no sitting for too long driving my car and making my pain worse, relax on the train...let it take the strain...ha! Getting there was great, fab trains, brand new, clean, fast...couldn't wish for more..coming home...still the same lovely train (don't forget, I used to be a train driver so I have a few anorak tendancies when it comes to trains)...anyways...cutting the very very long journey story short...the train in front failed...then we were in a queue...then we got stuck in a tunnel for 50 mins...all in all it took over three and a half hours for an hour journey! *feels sorry for self* LOL At least my tree is up now and here is a piccie of it...as usual, cack photography but I love it...

Today I took a photo of my desk...which has a few of the gorgeous pressies I have been given over the past few days...so this is my WOYWW entry...there HAS to be some crafting done on that desk today...several thousand Christmas cards to be made and posted soon...I have to tidy that messy desk up...and get into the cardmaking mood...so I will say TTFN for now...and wish you all a great day...hope it isn't snowing with you...tis trying to here...more sleet than the white stuff tho :O))

Winter Birthdays

...A few weeks ago I was asked to make a special card for a friend's Mum...her birthday is a Christmas one so I tried to add a little bit of winteryness into the card but making it pretty birthday stylee too... She sent me a photo of her Mum when she was a baby and I scanned it, cleaned it up and printed it off ready to use on the card.....{OK You got me on that one...Grim scanned it, cleaned it up and printed it off for me cos I am stoooopid with anything computery!}

The pics don't show up the detail on the lacing across the centre of the card, nor does it pick up the delicacy of the gorgeous papers I used...but...thankfully it was well received and the lady in question loved it...aw, makes me happy when it goes good! The photo was edged with Vintage Photo DI to make it look old again...and mounted onto mountboard so it was like one of the old photo's that Studio's used to send out....

Anyway ....another quickie today...you will all be thinking that I have got a sore throat with this lack of chatterings..but I admit, I am scheduling this one cos I am off to see Jennie today and just know I won't get time to post otherwise...she can talk the hind leg off a donkey you know ROFL

Thanks for looking.....have a good day

A Vecchi Merry Christmas!

....*I can't help it...I am sorry* I know, I know, another daft title but...this one kind of works...I made a Christmas card using Wendy Vecchi stamps...and some Distress Inks and some Grungepaper and now the person who I gave it to has got it, I can blog it!

I spent hours...and I mean hours...doing the chuffing Christmas decorations today...but the tree looks very pretty...no presents under it for me tho :O( Grim doesn't trust me enough to put mine under there...he thinks I will have a rummage and a squeeze...as if I would do such a thing!!!!

Just a quickie post today...none of my usual waffle...pain bad...deep bath and early night needed I reckon! Thanks for looking....

Sunday Stampers - Week 83 - Merry Christmas Everybody

Morning Stampers,

.....It's Christmas!!!! *said in a Noddy Holder shouty voice* just to get you all singing today I chose this title LOL Thank you to everyone who joined in with the Angels challenge last week - this week the theme is Christmas. To join in with the challenge, all you need to do is make a piece of art and then blog it, pop back here to leave me a comment with a link to the place you are showing your entry. *The challenge will be open until 23:00 on Saturday 19th December.*

I started to miss the Twelve Tags of Christmas already...so I made one for today...totally inspired by previous tags of Tim...and using techniques used over the past couple of weeks with the Tim tags.

I used clear embossing ink and powder for the swirl, blended Antique Linen, Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany and Walnut Stain Distress Inks over the surface...and then made the snowman by embossing him in white onto Grungeboard, cutting him out and then using a gold Dabber to colour the Grungeboard underneath. I made the ribbon scarf like Tim did for his first tag and added a couple of bells which I coloured with Precious Metal paint. The beaded fringe started out as clear, so I spritzed some Glimmer Mists onto it to colour it to match.

Thanks for looking... have a brill week and don't forget to get inky and messy!

The Final Tag-down....

...Oh, I have that song in my head now...you know the one...The Final Countdown...but cos I am so dippy, I am singing the Final Tag-down...cos today...*sob* is the last installment of Tim's 12 Tags...and ... excitingly for me, he used Grungepaper...I have missed this stuff...my fave crafty supply, so it was lovely to get back to using it!

All the instructions are on Tim's blog...I did use the Flower Power large flower by The Artistic Stamper to make my roses tho...and used Glimmer Mists instead of made up mists...but apart from that I reckon it is as near as I could get it!

Thanks for looking...please remember to pop back tomorrow for the brand new Sunday Stamper theme...until then....

Stag-tastic!

...Ok, it is a reindeer but it could be a stag..on a tag...geddit???? The penultimate tag in the Tims 12 Tags series for 2009. Now, please don't all shout at me but...I loved the background and the leaping stag...but wasn't keen on the brads...and seeing as I haven't got one of those i-thingimijigs I thought I would just use some white embossing powder on some fat brads I have...and then whilst the powder was still hot, I popped them onto the snowflake stamp...and then just gently re-heated them so the darker staining from my mucky stamps rose to the surface....cool or what? Actually, it was rather hot...as I found out when I stuck my thumb under one LOL

I just wanted to take a few moments to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who popped over to the Gingersnaps blog today and left me lovely comments...it was so kind of you all! I think it is an early night for me tonight so I will get myself off to bed and when I wake up the 12th tag should be ready to drool over...I mean look at ROFL

In A Distressed State...

....No, not me!! I am not distressed at all, a bit shabby around the edges perhaps...but...it is my first time doing a Tutorial over on the Gingersnap Creations blog...and I got to talk about my love of Distressing ... using a couple of techniques to make these two pieces:

I won't waffle on (for a change) about the how to's with these 'cos all the details are over on the Gingersnap blog...please drop by there to have a look ... and if you like what you see, please can you leave a comment so that the girls know I have done good ROFL

The main stamps used for the card are from Hearts In Touch, who are sponsoring the Gingersnaps this month...and there is blog candy up for grabs too...and the stamping on the tag is from Tim Holtz collection stamps.

Thanks for looking...I am sitting here, twiddling my inky thumbs waiting for Day 11 of the 12 Tags of Christmas...can't wait to see what today will bring!

Meta-tag-lica

...Did you see what I did there...Metalica...and Tag...cos...today's Tim Tag is made up using metal...nope? Well, I got it anyway LOL The details on how to make today's tag is on Tim's Blog...and I had a right old pain with this one! I had all the letters needed...but the aluminium foil I had was waaay too thin and kept puncturing...so I ended up using Ten Second Studio metal with Humungo tape...and refining it all by hand...which made my poorly wrist hurt loads but I think it is worth it.

I haven't got those Alcohol Ink pens...so I masked off each section and used felt and fingers to get the Alcohol Inks onto the metal...you should see the state of my hands now....loverly!! I am up to date with the tags so am off to do some distressing now...all will be revealed tomorrow :O))

Hels x

You'd Better Be Good....

... For Goodness Sake :O)) Is the title of Tim's 9th Tag of Christmas...I didn't get chance to make this yesterday...because...Grim and I went to see New Moon!!! Oh WOW!! What a FAB film, if you haven't seen it yet, you must...it is official...I am in lurve with Edward...thing is...he is young enough to be my son ROFL **dirty girl**

Anyway, back to the tag before I bring on a hot flush...the details on how to make are on Tim's Blog...when I first saw this tag I did think that I wouldn't be able to do any of it...until I read Tim's how to and realised he had been really kind and enabled us to save the images he used for us to print...which is what I did...all by myself...without having to say ... "Griiiim, please can you...." So I was rather chuffty tuffty with myself about that. I made the tag this morning..and am eagerly anticipating Day 10. I am lucky, I have most of the Idea-ology so that isn't an issue..but the photo corners gave me a bit of a headache ... til I remember that my QuicKutz handtool came with a die that was a photo corner! I am seriously hoping Tim doesn't use any more Dymo...I have run out of black...otherwise it means I have to go into town and I reallllly cannot bear the thought of facing the throngs of Christmas shoppers LOL

Thanks for looking and have a FAB day

Something Sandy......

...Ah, what a shame I don't mean that I am writing this from my sunlounger on a sandy beach in the Bahama's...but..what it does mean is that today the Gingersnap Creations Blog see a brand new challenge! And...guess what? It is....Sandpaper. (am not going thru the whole is it Sandpaper, Sand Paper or Sand paper thing again like yesterday...that would be tooooo boring....)

I made a card for my entry...I used some fab DCWV cardstock, running it through the Cuttlebug with a Holly folder and the Swiss Dots folder...rubbed the embossed bits with sandpaper so the white core showed...and then blended Distress Inks over the whiteness using Antique Linen to make them toned down. The little tree which I made into a bauble is another of those gorgeous stamps by Hearts In Touch...I stamped with Peeled Paint, embossed with Shabby Shutters Distress Powders and then added loads of dollops of Picket Fence Distress Stickles. The bit of ribbon and then the punched flowers were added to make it look more like a bauble...please tell me you knew instantly that I had made a bauble (LOL)...I added some little DewDropz for the tree and stamped my favest sentiment in the whole widest world (another Hearts In Touch stamp) straight onto the cardstock...blended the edges with Antique Linen to pull it all together and voila, finished!

Thanks for looking...and if you feel like a challenge today, please hop on over to the Gingersnaps... they have some beuatiful samples on display as well as this one of mine ROFL And...I almost forgot to mention....Hearts In Touch are generously offering the Christmas stamp sheet as Blog Candy for one lucky entrant! Cool huh?

I am dashing off to the blog of the man who is driving me insane at the same time as making me say oooh and aaaah everyday at his fabulous tags...I need to see what today's looks like!

Leaning On The Lamp Post?

...Is it all one word? Lamp post...or Lamppost...or Lamp Post...well, whatever it is...the main feature on Day 8 of the fantabulous Christmas tags by Tim is a ... lamp post. And it just so happens that I haven't got that set of stamps that we needed to use...so...I rummaged, rifled and then rummaged some more to find some music score paper or a stamp...nope...not a sausage....well, not a real sausage...I have some of those in the fridge...I was speaking metaphorically or whatever 'they' say, whomever 'they' are.....*blimey, it has been a long day and I am waffling....* Anyways....not a musical thing in sight...so...thankfully...Andrea lent me her music stamp which is an Oxford Impressions stamp...so I improvised and stamped it several times onto cream paper...cos I haven't got any vellum either!

So...to the lamp post...well, I have to say, I improvised this aswell...using the top of a Paper Artsy stamp and then bending the Grungeboard to put embossing ink onto it so I could emboss it black like Tim did....mmmm...let's just say that any self respecting dog wouldn't be inclined to cock his leg against this one...so... that is another set of stamps I need *ROFL* I had planned on using the Grungeboard one from the Seasonal set but I had already used it and it was too small anyway. Overall, I am pleased with the result tho'....and...did you notice...I got the proper flourish stamp now...so there is no stopping me now...hopefully tomorrow the stamps used will be in my collection LOL

I am off to bed now...I spent a FAB day at Andrea's and bless her, she lent me the Santa that looks like David Bellamy so I can remake the tag from the other day! Thanks for looking!

Hels x

Love-Tag-Tastic

...I really must come up with something more original for my titles LOL I have made another Christmas tag...using the colour Purple as the main element because the Allsorts Challenge this week is... purple!

I stamped some snowflakes in white acrylic paint onto the tag surface, dried them, blended Dusty Concord and Broken China over the top, wiped over the snowflakes to make them white again and then made a tree using a Tim stamp, Grungeboard and Distress Embossing Powders. The background has had some Rock Candy crackle and some Picket Fence Stickles popped on...and I also did the same to the Maya Road snowflakes....I added some ribbons and some Idea-ology and then roughed up the edges for a distressy look.

Thanks for looking..can't wait to see Tim's new tag today :O)

Do You Believe???

...I do! I believe that Tim is a genius for starters...and I believe that if I am a good girl Santa will come down my chimney with a sackful for me **phnar-phnar** Continuing with the Tim's 12 Tags...here is Day 7...I am not happy with it tho! I used too much white scrolly stuff so the sentiment which is embossed in gold doesn't show up too good...which means...I will be making this one again LOL And...I used too much Stickles for Santa's garland...but couldn't resist giving him rosey cheeks again...he has been on the sherry again :O))

Thanks for looking...tis a really mucky day here today so I plan a bit of tag making later... but first, you know when you start a job and wish you never had? Well, I started to sort out my ribbon drawer...it is a surprise that I am not lasso'd to the desk with the mess that is in there...wish me luck !!

PS...I have just been and visited Wendy Vecchi's blog...like I do everyday...and you will never guess what!!!!! I won the giveaway from this weekend...which is...$100 of Simon Says Stamp credit voucher!! To say I am chuffty tuffty is an understatement....I am sooo happy!!! So, thanks to Wendy...and to Simon Says Stamp for their generosity! :O))
